Company Overview

Ghost is an inventory distribution platform and operating system for modern retail trade. We partner with the world’s best brands to help them understand the true value of their inventory and route it to the right destinations globally. Ghost gives brands precise control over where and how their inventory is sold. Backed by top venture firms including L Catterton, Cathay Innovation, Union Square Ventures, Equal Ventures, and Eniac. Ghost has offices in Los Angeles and New York.

About the Role

We are seeking an exceptional Chief of Staff to serve as a strategic partner and force multiplier to both the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Financial Officer. This is a high-impact, highly-visible role designed for a sharp operator who thrives at the intersection of strategy, finance, and commercial execution.

The Chief of Staff will drive the cadence of the executive office — from shaping sales strategy and building robust KPI frameworks, to preparing compelling materials for board and investor audiences and supporting capital markets activity. You will function as an extension of the CEO and CFO, ensuring the organization moves with clarity and speed on its most critical priorities.

The ideal candidate is an operator who is eager to gain a seat at the table during a pivotal stage of Ghost's growth and develop a deep understanding of how our business operates.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic & Executive Support

  • Serve as a trusted advisor and day-to-day partner to the CEO and CFO, managing priorities, decision-making cadence, and information flow across the organization.
  • Identify, synthesize, and escalate strategic issues before they become problems — keeping both principals appropriately focused on what matters most.
  • Drive cross-functional initiatives on behalf of the CEO and CFO, holding teams accountable and removing blockers.
  • Prepare briefing materials, decision memos, and strategic analyses to support executive decision-making.
  • Manage the operating rhythm of the executive office, including leadership team meetings, quarterly business reviews, and offsites.
  • Translate customer insights from the CEO's sales conversations into structured product asks, partnering with product and engineering leads to prioritize them
  • Maintain a single source of truth on top-priority initiatives so leadership has visibility
  • Project manage CRM hygiene, pipeline reporting cadences, and weekly sales reviews so the team has clean data and clear next steps

KPI Frameworks & Performance Tracking

  • Maintain a company-wide KPI framework covering revenue, growth, operational efficiency, and financial health metrics.
  • Build and own executive dashboards and reporting cadences that provide actionable insight to the CEO, CFO, and leadership team.
  • Work with Finance, Data, and Operations to ensure data integrity, consistency, and accessibility across KPI reporting.
  • Drive quarterly and annual OKR/goal-setting processes, tracking progress and flagging risks to plan.

Board & Investor Meetings

  • Lead end-to-end preparation for board meetings — from agenda design and pre-read materials to board pack production and post-meeting follow-up.
  • Draft and refine board presentations, ensuring accuracy, narrative clarity, and appropriate tone for a director-level audience.
  • Maintain the board and investor calendar, managing scheduling, logistics, and pre-meeting preparation.

Capital Raising & Investor Relations

  • Support the CFO in fundraising processes — including equity rounds, debt financings, and strategic partnerships — from initial preparation through to close.
  • Develop and maintain core investor materials: investor presentations, data rooms, financial models, and management Q&A documents.
  • Coordinate due diligence processes with internal stakeholders and external advisors, ensuring responsiveness and quality of deliverables.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, economics, finance, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree a plus
  • Minimum 3 years at an investment bank, bulge bracket experience a plus
  • Minimum 2 years at a Series B or mid stage retail or CPG company strongly preferred
  • Exceptional project management skills, with a track record of moving multiple cross-functional workstreams forward simultaneously
  • Avid user of AI and passionate about incorporating AI into daily workflows (Claude, ChatGPT, etc.)
  • Strong written and verbal communication; comfortable drafting executive-level documents, customer-facing materials, and internal communications
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with strong judgment on what matters most in any given week
  • Comfortable operating with ambiguity and shifting priorities in a fast-moving startup environment
  • Low ego, high ownership — energized by making others more effective rather than seeking individual spotlight
  • Fluency with CRM tools (HubSpot/Salesforce) and data analysis

This role will be based in our LA office. Our total compensation for this position can range from $175-200k base salary + bonus + equity. The actual amounts may vary based on factors such as experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Benefits we offer:

  • Competitive compensation and equity structure

  • Unlimited PTO

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
