Want to work on one of the most loved cannabis brands in California, New York and Illinois? The Art Director plays an important role in managing creative projects across all functions ranging from campaigns to packaging. This position will  support and execute the look, feel and personality of key brands including, but not limited to Heavy Hitters, Almora, etc. with an emphasis on differentiating these brands in a crowded marketplace. This position will be tasked with producing high-quality assets for all consumer touch points while working within the guardrails of our brand strategy. A successful candidate will enable our efforts to bring to life visually the unique value proposition of our product portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Under the direction of key stakeholders, manage the creative process from concept to completion for all creative projects
  • Oversee packaging artwork creation and updates
  • Manage the creative team in the production of all marketing and sales collateral
  • Develop and create brand style guides and brand voice documents
  • Refine the look and feel of the brand portfolio
  • Translate marketing objectives into clear creative strategies
  • Oversee project deliverables, schedule management, and budgets
  • Collaborate to help develop ad and content campaigns for social media, digital media and other media outlets – inclusive of photo and video content
  • Ensure visual communication and brand standards are met for consistent messaging
  • Create visual merchandising creative for strategic retail accounts
  • Produce new and creative visual layouts for customer experiences
  • Create eye catching collateral to share product details and assist with promos
  • Responsible for packaging design graphics, website development, logos, branding, info graphics, email campaigns, landing pages, ads, in-store POS, digital, social media, editorial content, photography, typography, and artistic styling direction
  • Responsible for using the principals of good design to layout and format of all marketing and promotional materials, brochures, flyers, sell sheets, and banners
  • Incorporate brand approved elements (photography, illustrations, graphic elements, typography and copy) together into a well-designed and constructed message
  • Utilize AI effectively and continue to evolve the usage of this tool 
  • Demonstrate high standards while communicating effectively with a high degree of collaboration

Competencies/Experience

  • 7+ years of experience in graphic design
  • Cannabis knowledge/experience preferred
  • Print Production: must be able to work on both digital and pre-press - has attended press checks
  • Package Design: has worked with a variety of materials and finishes
  • Photo Retouching experience
  • Has previously managed a team of designers
  • Proficient in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat, InDesign, Figma, Asana, Brand Folder, and Klaviyo
  • Solidworks and/or Rhino 3D and/or Cinema 4D experience a plus
  • CPG brand experience is desired but not mandatory
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs
  • Web/ UI/UX development skills are a plus
  • Google-suite experience
  • Experience with SEO and SEM is a plus
  • Experience with effective AI usage
  • Experience producing/directing photo and video shoots
  • Photo and video editing
  • A good listener and able to take constructive feedback
  • Experience in retail visual merchandising
  • Focusing on attention to detail and triple checking your work
  • Strong project management abilities delivering projects on time and on budget
  • Stellar communication and presentation skills
