Job Description
The Vice President, Facilities Operations & Engineering will be responsible for developing and leading facility operations strategy, teams, tools and solutions for NBC Universal's West Coast facilities along with our facilities operations in Atlanta, GA. You will be leading a large diverse workforce of facility pro's along with major facility IWMS systems, critical systems monitoring, service center, MRO and extensive maintenance and repair programs across approximately 5M square feet of office and studio facilities. You will drive high employee engagement and operational excellence throughout the operation while prioritizing employee experience. You will need to be a seasoned and savvy leader able to operate at multiple levels and bring in a forward-thinking operations expertise.
What You'll Do:
- Lead and develop a large workforce of union and non-union employees, contractors, and vendors.
- Create a workplace environment for all which fosters everyday communication, collaboration, kindness and respect, with a high focus on accountability and results.
- Design and plan resilient programs which support a high-performance and reliable network of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing infrastructure.
- Build best practice tools and processes which deliver world-class lifecycle maintenance programs with maximum up time and operational effectiveness.
- Responsible for all major facilities trades including electrical, mechanical, plumbing, metal shop, key shop, building engineers, propmakers and other studio trades.
- Responsible for championing safe and compliant work practices at all times in alliance with EHS
- Oversee the Facilities Service Center as our customer front line and work order clearing house while you strive to achieve service excellence across the company.
- Lead our critical systems Central Monitoring center, people and technology, our windshield on all major systems insuring operational excellence and maximum up time.
- Integrate teams and work processes seamlessly with colleague functions including Design & Construction, Office & Space Planning Services, Corporate Services, Security, EHS and other key partners such as Finance, Legal and HR.
- Communicate often and effectively with executives, clients, vendors and major stakeholders to ensure needs are proactively gathered, expectations properly set and met and that priorities are balanced across the larger Studio Operations organization.
- Identify and communicate long term operational best practice objectives and guide short term projects and decisions to help constantly navigate towards long term goals.
- Create performance reporting tools to help track metrics that indicate how initiatives are delivering against anticipated benefits.
- Be a critical leader and member of the 24x7 facility incident response team responding and managing power outages, equipment failures or other matters requiring immediate attention.
- Review vendor proposals, contracts, and other critical contracted services, to ensure the best possible service, costs and programs are in place.
- Responsible for solar power installations and operations across multiple locations.
- Maintain good relationships and liaison with power, water, sewage, and gas providers.
- Lead, innovate, optimize, expand our true IWMS system (Archibus) across multiple locations including partner locations in NYC, Miami and London.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- 12+ years of experience leading complex facility operations and the internal and external teams that deliver them, ideally in a relevant industry. Experience managing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, along with general maintenance of grounds and facilities.
- Proven track record developing and building safety, compliance, training, and testing programs.
- Demonstrated experience leading technical facility systems and controls including IWMS, asset management, and predictive management tools.
Desired Characteristics:
- Professional designations such as FMP, CEM, and PMP.
- Smart Building, building automation & plant experience.
- Expert IWMS experience.
- Ability to toggle seamlessly from people leadership to technical systems management.
- Principles of environmental stewardship, including energy and water use, recycling, air quality, etc. LEED accreditation is a plus.
- Technical aspects of facilities management including MEP infrastructure, office interiors and general operations.
- Able to create tools and processes which quickly and accurately estimate jobs for clients leveraging deep industry experience, historical trends, teams, and vendor relationships.
- Strong foundational knowledge designing and managing both facilities helpdesk and work order management systems, including the reporting they generate.
- Effective communication skills-able to build and present compelling business cases at the senior leadership level.
- Strong business acumen, inciteful analytical skills, and superior organizational skills.
- Experience working with minimal guidance in fast-paced corporate environments.
- Master's degree or advance industry certifications a plus.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field a plus.

- Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.
