Underwriting Assistant - Builders Risk
Job Description & Requirements:
- Primary responsibility is to assist underwriters in servicing new and existing accounts.
- Candidate will be responsible for booking accounts, preparing endorsements and binders, evaluating new and renewal policies and endorsements, preparing and issuing manuscript policies.
- Candidate will service accounts, including resolving agent’s inquiries, complaints, requests, and policy processing activities with guidelines, gather and organize specified information and reports to assist in the underwriting decision.
Requirements:
- Strong portfolio management and production skills with an understanding of the company’s business objectives.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong Computer skills.
- Candidates must be able to work in a high volume atmosphere.
- Candidates must be extremely organized.
For individuals assigned and/or hired to work in California, Starr Insurance Companies is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets: experience and training: licensure and certifications: and other business and organizational needs. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $65,000-$80,000.
This position involves insurance underwriting. Bad actors involved in insurance underwriting have the opportunity to cause significant financial harm by binding the employer to improperly cover risks. Therefore, certain criminal convictions may have a direct, adverse, and negative relationship with this responsibility potentially resulting in the withdrawal of a conditional offer of employment.
