At Relativity Space, we have two audacious goals: to build the next great commercial launch company with Terran R and to become America's leading force in additive manufacturing innovation. Both contribute to our long-term vision of creating humanity’s industrial base on Mars, paving the way for interplanetary life to expand the possibilities of the human experience. This journey begins right here on Earth – where we design, build, and fly rockets to deliver customer payloads to orbit. Terran R, our medium-to-heavy lift reusable rocket, fulfills the growing demand for launch capacity, thanks to our iterative approach that accelerates design, testing, and development while minimizing costs. While our groundbreaking research and development in 3D printing pushes the boundaries of large-scale additive manufacturing.
Your journey with us is more than just a job – it’s an opportunity to shape the future of aerospace technology, additive manufacturing, and the human experience alongside a community of passionate, creative individuals. Join us on this extraordinary journey, as we work together to transform our vision into reality.
About the Team:
The additive technology team leads research and development of Relativity’s Stargate 3D-printing platform and factory operating system to produce large-scale metal structures for the industrial base. The team works with robotics engineers, data scientists, systems engineers, and welders to advance Relativity’s innovative tech stack, which leverages autonomy, advanced simulation, machine learning, and robotics. Working at the intersection of hardware and software, the team is creating a unified platform that can perform additive manufacturing, in-situ monitoring, NDE, and subtraction capabilities in a single print cell. Progressing in parallel to Terran R development, Relativity’s breakthroughs in large-scale additive manufacturing have the potential to revolutionize the defense industrial base.
About the Role:
- Project Planning: Develop and maintain detailed project plans including scope, schedules, budgets, and resource allocation. Ensure all projects are aligned with program requirements and execute required milestones through program completion. Support proposal process as needed.
- Project Execution: Through demonstrated project management skills, you will bridge the gap between customer programs, weld engineering, materials and process engineering, production, post-processing, and supply chain functions to coordinate initiatives, define and verify requirements, and push progress across an array of technical challenges spanning development, prototyping, and production efforts. Your primary role is to organize, make work clear through requirements and schedules, identify need strategic decisions on path forward, and coordinate all project activities needed for successful completion.
- Stakeholder management: Establish and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and satisfaction with project progress.
- Cross-Functional Team Leadership: Lead and motivate cross-functional teams, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages innovation and high performance.
- Requirements Management: Establish, translate, trace, and verify requirements in accordance with internal and external program needs
- Compliance: Ensure all projects adhere to regulations, guidelines, security requirements. Implement necessary compliance measures.
- Risk Management: Identify potential risks and issues related programs and contracts, and work proactively to mitigate them.
- Resource Allocation: Manage and optimize project resources, including personnel, equipment, and budgets to meet project objectives and contractual obligations.
About You:
- Bachelors degree in relevant STEM field (Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics)
- 3+ years experience in managing technical hardware projects with internal and external facing customers
- Program management experience working on or leading fast-paced, collaborative teams including managing project dashboards, scoping, structuring, creating, and reviewing deliverables
- Exposure to metallic materials selection criteria, and experience in evaluating candidate materials for challenging applications
- Familiarity with metallurgical non-destructive evaluation, testing and characterization methods including design of experiments and robust understanding of statistical methods
- Experience with MES, ERP systems and working in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing related to engineering drawing interpretation and review
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills including technical writing strengths
- Proficiency in project management tools (e.g. Smartsheet, JIRA)
- US citizen, born or naturalized, as this is a prerequisite for a security clearance
Nice to haves but not required:
- Masters or Doctorate degree in relevant STEM field (Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics)
- 3+ years experience development welding or additive manufacturing processes
- Proficiency in metallurgy, material science, non-destructive evaluation methods
- Engineering experience in an Aerospace, Energy, or Maritime Industry
- This position may require a DoD security clearance at the SECRET level. Preferred candidates have either of the following: (1) an active security clearance, with an investigation completed less than 5 years ago, or (2) the ability to obtain a security clearance within a reasonable time, as determined by the Company. You do not need a security clearance to start this position.

What We Do
A rocket company at the core, Relativity Space is on a mission to become the next great
commercial launch company. Terran R, our medium-to-heavy lift reusable launch vehicle, will
reliably deliver payloads to orbit on-time and on-budget for customers – meeting the needs of
growing demand for space infrastructure. Leveraging the benefits of additive manufacturing
to design, test, and iterate at a pace unmatched in the industry, we are changing the way
rockets are built and flown.
Our long-term goal is to create humanity’s industrial base on Mars, paving the way for
interplanetary life to fundamentally expand the possibilities of the human experience. The first
step toward this vision starts here on Earth, by building the next great commercial launch
company with Terran R
Why Work With Us
For 60 years, aerospace manufacturing has relied on fixed tooling and complex supply chains to
slowly build rockets comprised of hundreds of thousands of parts. Leveraging advances in
additive manufacturing, Relativity Space is strategically focused on reducing vehicle complexity,
cost, and time to market.
