Ghost is a data-driven distribution platform for the best brands in the world. We partner with leading streetwear, apparel, footwear, beauty, and home goods brands to unlock new revenue for all types of inventory. Through transparency, data insights, and a network of vetted buyers, Ghost empowers sellers to diversify and optimize their inventory management. Backed by top VC firms (Cathay, USV, Equal, Eniac, L. Catterton), Ghost is one of LA’s fastest-growing startups.

As a Director, Product Management, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of our product offerings. You will be responsible for driving the product vision, strategy, and execution for key initiatives, working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver products that meet customer needs and drive business growth. This role requires a strategic thinker with a passion for innovation and a track record of successfully managing complex product life cycles in a fast-paced startup environment.  You’ll report to our Head of Product, and will be closely partnering with engineering, product design, marketing, sales, merchandising, and operations.

This role is required to be onsite in our Los Angeles (mid-Wilshire) headquarters.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Product Strategy & Roadmap:
    • Define the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for new and existing products.
    • Collaborate with key stakeholders to gather requirements and ensure alignment with business goals.
    • Prioritize features, enhancements, and initiatives based on impact, feasibility, and resources.
  2. Cross-functional Collaboration:
    • Lead and coordinate with engineering, design, marketing, sales, and customer support to ensure successful product launches and product lifecycle management.
    • Communicate product plans, goals, and status updates to stakeholders across the company.
    • Foster a collaborative and innovative team environment, ensuring transparency and alignment across all teams.
  3. Customer Focus:
    • Engage with customers and end-users to gather insights, feedback, and understand pain points to inform product decisions.
    • Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify new opportunities and areas for differentiation.
  4. Execution & Delivery:
    • Oversee the product development process, ensuring that products are delivered on time, within scope, and meet the quality standards.
    • Work closely with engineering teams to define technical requirements, user stories, and ensure smooth execution of product features.
    • Lead product testing and iterate based on feedback to continuously improve the user experience.
  5. Metrics & Performance:
    • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of the product.
    • Monitor product performance and make data-driven decisions to optimize and refine the product.
  6. Leadership & Mentorship:
    • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior product managers, sharing best practices and helping them grow in their roles.
    • Foster a positive, proactive, and results-driven team culture.

About You:

  • You have worked 5-10+ years in a product role at a hyper-growth startup.
  • You have a strong customer mindset: everything you do starts with understanding who your customers are, as well as their jobs to be done. You then work backwards from there, challenging all prior assumptions, to serve them.
  • You focus on fully owning an outcome, not just a product. You can envision, define, and deliver projects and products (including non-product initiatives) that can significantly impact that outcome.
  • You are not afraid of holding yourself accountable on a well defined north star KPI, and you will regularly report on them.
  • You possess a superpower to turn ambiguous or conflicting directions into an organized and thoughtful plan, then execute on it, delivering customer delight.
  • You are able to prioritize and scope functionality that balances for long term vision and short term pain points.
  • You can inspire your cross-functional partners (including but not limited to Engineering), and have the flexibility to balance and align on competing priorities.
  • Marketplace experience is a big plus.

Salary range for this role: $200,000-$250,000

Benefits we offer:

  • Medical, Vision, and Dental with some plans covered at 100%
  • Competitive compensation and equity structure
  • 401K
  • Unlimited PTO

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
