ActivTrak is looking for a Staff Accountant to join our accounting team. This role plays a critical part in ensuring financial records are accurate by supporting the month-end close process, and maintaining the integrity of day-to-day accounting operations. The ideal candidate should possess thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and internal controls. The position requires an individual to be detailed and think analytically, showing the ability to identify and solve problems. This position is an opportunity for someone who wants to grow their accounting career as it has tremendous exposure to all aspects of the accounting cycle and business operations. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain overall accuracy and integrity of the general ledger
  • Maintain month-end close process, schedules, and financial reports
  • Create and manage monthly reconciliations of all Balance Sheet accounts
  • Process journal entries and other accounting transactions
  • Manage A/P; process vendor invoices, ensure timely and accurate payments, maintain vendor records, and respond to inquiries
  • Review, code, and reconcile corporate credit card transactions; ensure proper documentation and compliance with company policies
  • Maintain and update the fixed asset subledger; record acquisitions, disposals, and depreciation entries
  • Monitor and reconcile monthly sales tax returns, ensure compliance with all local and state requirements 
  • Assist with year-end audits and corporate tax requests
  • Assist with a variety of ad hoc projects

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. A minimum GPA of 3.0 in relevant coursework (Accounting and/or Finance) is required. Candidates may be asked to provide transcripts for verification.
  • 2 years in public accounting as an auditor or comparable corporate accounting experience
  • Thorough understanding of GAAP principles
  • Experience with SaaS based companies preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ActivTrak is a remote-first organization. Over communication is vital to the overall success of the team 
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, etc.) and Google
  • Experience with Netsuite or other SaaS ERP 
  • Ability to manage personal time and multi-task when necessary
  • Ability to adapt in an environment where change is a constant  
  • Prior experience with standard accounting softwares a plus (Avalara, Stripe, Airbase, Ramp, etc.)
