About Lume and Mando

Founded in 2017, Lume is a transformative personal care brand on a mission to normalize body odor beyond pits and provide people with outrageously effective solutions so they don’t have to think twice about odor. We are pioneers of the whole body deodorant category, with a portfolio of odor-blocking products including anti-perspirants, aluminum-free deodorants, body washes, body creams, cleansing bars and laundry sprays. Lume products are OB/GYN developed, made with skin-safe ingredients that are gentle enough for the most sensitive parts and often referred to as “life-changing” by our customers. In late 2022, we launched a men’s line called Mando, bringing our expertise to the men’s personal care category. From whole body deodorants to body washes, our product offerings arm men with the confidence to show up as their best selves as they move about their busy day.

Lume and Mando is part of Mammoth Brands, the modern CPG company behind category-leading brands Harry’s, Flamingo, Lume, and Mando. Driven by a mission to “Create Things People Like More,”  the company is creating a new model—and home—for brands, founders, and talent looking to solve unmet needs, improve peoples’ lives and ultimately change the status quo. Even as we grow, we take extra care to maintain the small, scrappy, entrepreneurial culture that helped to get us where we are today: a company that people like more, that better serves its customers, employees, and community. Mammoth Brands is committed to making a positive impact and donated over $20 million through our network of nonprofit partners to date.

About the Role

Lume is looking for a Project Manager for the Research & Development team to lead the process of creating and delivering innovative and performance driven personal care products. As an R&D Project Manager you’ll lead cross-functional work streams and teams at all levels through thoughtful planning, execution, and support from concept through product launch.

R&D Project Managers are team players who are energized by working in a fast-paced environment and have a demonstrated ability to lead multiple work streams, often with competing priorities. R&D Project Managers should have a desire and aptitude to dive deep into the details of the development process and lead teams in bringing amazing products to life.

What you will do:

  • Map development path with input from cross-functional partners, track deliverables, manage development timelines and facilitate the day-to-day operational aspects of a program
  • Document decisions and identify gaps or sticking points that may be preventing the project from moving forward
  • Ensure contract manufacturers and cross-functional team members have the resources from the R&D team to successfully contribute to product launches, which may include product samples, dielines, ingredient lists, correctly formatted artwork files, etc.
  • Communicate timelines, priorities, important project details, and updates to senior management and the broader Lume organization
  • Help develop scalable systems and processes to support new launches

This may describe you:

  • Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent professional experience
  • 3+ years in an analytical, dynamic, or process driven role such as project management, product development, package development, consulting, or supply chain. CPG experience would be a plus.
  • Quick learner and self-starter who exercises good judgment and discretion with limited oversight.
  • Communicates well with various cross functional groups as well as suppliers and vendors.
  • Able to effectively and concisely present to senior leadership.
  • Detail and process oriented with an ability to create an atmosphere of accountability for all working partners.
  • Has a “no task too small” mentality with an eagerness to learn and address any issue that may arise.
  • Adaptable, resilient, and able to meaningfully pivot with the shifting needs of the business.

Here's who you'll work with:

  • Working on the R&D team reporting into the Head of Product
  • Working closely with Product Development, Marketing, Supply Chain, Creative, and Leadership teams as well as external supplier/vendor partners

Benefits and perks

  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • 401k match
  • Equity in Mammoth Brands
  • Flexible time off and working hours
  • Wellness and L&D stipends
  • 4 weeks sabbatical after 5 years, 6 weeks after 10 years, and 8 weeks after 15 years
  • 20 fully paid weeks off for parents who give birth, or 16 fully paid weeks off for all other paths to parenthood
  • Fun IRL and virtual events including happy hours, team building events, and parties on our rooftop
  • Free products from all of our brands

We can’t quantify all of the intangible things we think you’ll love about working at Mammoth Brands, like the exciting challenges we tackle, the smart and humble team you’ll get to work with, and our supportive and inclusive culture. That said, our salary ranges are based on paying competitively for our size and industry, and are one part of our total rewards package, which also includes a comprehensive set of benefits and our equity program. The base salary hiring range for this position is $81,700-$90,000, but the final compensation offer will ultimately be based on the candidate’s location, skill level and experience.

Mammoth Brands is committed to bringing together individuals from different backgrounds and perspectives. We strive to create an inclusive environment where everyone can thrive, feel a sense of belonging, and do great work together.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
