OVERVIEW:

The Senior Director - Office of Technology, partners with the Technology Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to define & evolve the technology strategy, lead technology business operations and partner closely with enterprise HR and Finance functions. In addition, this role enables the extended Technology Leadership to focus on the highest priorities while working in an effective, collaborative, and efficient manner.

This role reports directly to the CTO and serves as a “trusted advisor” to the technology leadership team. This role requires a highly resourceful individual with strong critical thinking, a commanding presence, a deep understanding of technology function, a strategic mindset, the ability to develop strong relationships across the organization, strong analytical skills, and a bias for action and accountability.

Technology Strategy Definition:

  • Partner with Technology Leadership to develop Technology Strategy & Vision and bring it to life across the entire organization.

  • Define Technology Strategy Framework

  • Lead Development of Technology Vision and Strategy

  • Establish an Annual Roadmap of tactics enabling the Technology Strategy

  • Maintain an annual process for Technology Strategy review, measurement, and refinement

Technology Business Operations

Technology Leadership Backlog Management:

  • Develop and manage an inventory of critical leadership initiatives that are led by technology SLT

  • Partner with SLT to align on their deliverables and responsibilities to support the backlog

  • Communicate the plan and status to broader technology organization

Communications Management:

  • Provide leadership in developing technology communication framework

  • Help develop a technology story that is communicated internally and externally to DSG

  • Ensure that key messages are conveyed to key audiences across DSG and technology organization

  • Help identify key topics for technology Town Halls, CTO Thoughts Live, and other broad events

  • Identify key external and internal speaking engagements for SLT

Operations:

  • Lead technology SLT and XLT staff meetings

  • Develop and manage technology Rhythm of the Business calendar

  • Partner closely with HR organization to support technology talent strategy and execution

  • Partner closely with Finance organization to support technology finance management

  • Partner closely with Corporate Communications to support technology communication strategy

  • Partner closely with ELT Chiefs of Staff to stay on top of latest priorities and expectations

  • Develop and implement technology goals framework and management

  • Manage technology travel and training budget

  • Develop and maintain technology onboarding processes

  • Support technology internship and development programs

Talent Management:

  • Set clear performance standards for teammates.

  • Coach and ensure all teammates are getting the training and education needed to develop professionally.

  • Act as a servant leader for your teammates

  • Build a positive culture where teammates are excited to work

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree, MBA Preferred

  • 10-15 years experience, including experience leading large scale Agile transformations.

  • 7 – 10 years of work experience required

  • Experience in leading technology functions

  • Strong understanding of different technology functions that support Software Development Lifecycle

  • Experience working in Product Management based organization

  • Expertise, and demonstrated working knowledge of, Agile, Scrum, Kanban, DevOps, Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), Lean Product, and Human Centered Design (HCD)

  • Experience integrating Lean Product and Agile methodologies

  • Experience with organizational change management frameworks and practices

  • 5+ years of coaching and facilitation experience preferred

  • Proven ability to develop strong collaborative partnerships with senior Tech and Business leaders

  • Knowledge of organization change management models and practices

  • Demonstrated experience and ability to work effectively with remote / distributed team

  • Experience working with an internal product organization

  • Results/action-orientation; project management skills

  • Organizational and political agility; developed negotiation skills

  • Unquestionable personal code of ethics, integrity, diversity and trust

  • Experience building Agile transformation roadmaps and corresponding action plans.

  • Strong written & verbal communication skills

  • Technology experience within a retail organization preferred

  • Ability to create and deliver executive level presentations

  • Strong active listening skills

  • Demonstrated learning agility and experience leading through ambiguity

  • Organized and self-starter

  • Experience working with engineering teams.

  • Able to successfully navigate within varying degrees of ambiguity in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong strategic/financial analysis skills

Targeted Pay Range: $153,700.00 - $285,300.00. This is part of a competitive total rewards package that could include other components such as: incentive, equity and benefits. Individual pay is determined by a number of factors including experience, location, internal pay equity, and other relevant business considerations.
