Description

Kit is an email-first operating system for creators who mean business. We help creators grow and monetize their audience with ease. For coaches, YouTubers, authors, podcasters, and other creatives, there isn’t a better marketing hub to rely on to grow audiences, automate email marketing, and sell digital products - all within one platform. More importantly, there isn’t a team more committed to helping creators earn a living.

We’re on a mission to help creators earn $1 billion using our creator marketing platform. We have always been 100% independent and 100% remote. We are proud to have built a product that our customers love, and we look for people who have enthusiasm and belief in our mission, vision, and values to join our team.

The Kit culture is one where emotional intelligence is valued, radical candor is encouraged, and where everyone works together to uphold a set of shared team principles.

The Role

We believe the creator economy is powered by genuine value creation. As our Director of Marketing, you'll help creators build more valuable businesses by positioning our product strategically in the market, growing our pipeline of Scaling Creators, driving upgrades to paid plans, and enabling our sales team to win Star Creators (think Tom Brady or Matthew McConaughey who are both customers).

You won’t be alone in these efforts.

The Team

You will work as a strategist (40%), coach (40%), and player (20%). You’ll lead an 8-person team that is seeking clear direction and coaching to hit revenue targets and reach their potential. The team is made-up of an SEO Manager, Affiliate Marketing Manager, Lifecycle Marketer, 2 Product Marketing Managers, Sr Content Marketing Manager, Creator Educator, and a Social Media Manager. For our marketing tech stack, we use HubSpot, MadKudu, ChiliPiper, and Intercom.

Your Support System

You’ll report into our CRO, Dave Altarescu, who’s a marketer himself and is ready to be a thought partner. He’s been managing the team while we search for a new leader. You’ll also have a rockstar partner in our Creative Director, Charli Prangley, who leads our brand designers, senior writer, and video creator. You’ll work closely with other cross-functional partners on our sales and migrations, customer growth, and customer experience teams. For our marketing tech stack, we use HubSpot, MadKudu, ChiliPiper, and Intercom.

What You’ll Do

  • First Week: Dive into our product, customers, and workflows. Take part in Get To Know You’s (GTKYs) to meet our distributed team.
  • First Month: Assess our current state and craft a plan that will set the team up for success. Build and execute a marketing strategy that reaches a professional creator audience, improves onboarding and activation, drives Creator Network adoption, delivers value through our App Store, and hits revenue growth targets.
  • First Six Months: Define, track, and report on top of funnel metrics. Monitor competitor positioning and stay ahead of industry shifts. Form hypotheses, test them, and scale what works. Share insights with stakeholders and partner with cross-functional teams on key initiatives like building a robust sales-led enterprise motion, launching Kit Studios locations, and hosting our signature event, Craft + Commerce.
  • First Year: Elevate our product and lifecycle marketing to new heights. Help us hit new customer MRR goals, reactivation targets, and drive feature adoption. Come to deeply understand our core value that "creator success is our success.”

Kit is an equal opportunity employer. We value diversity in all of its forms, and we hire the best person we can for each role, no matter your personal background. Research tells us that applicants who are female or non-binary, as well as applicants who are people of color, are less likely to apply for roles they do not feel 100% qualified for. If you think you meet more than 50% of our requirements but fewer than 100% of them, please apply. We’re imperfect communicators, so think of our job postings as the starting point for discussion rather than proof that you shouldn’t apply.

Kit does not discriminate on the basis of race, sex, color, religion, age, national origin, marital status, disability, veteran status, genetic information, sexual orientation, gender identity or any other reason prohibited by law in provision of employment opportunities and benefits.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
