We’re looking for a full-time Senior Digital Advertising Strategist with 2+ years of experience in the field to take on the challenge of managing digital advertising campaigns and client relationships.

The work will be mostly focused on direct-response ads on Facebook, but large-scale persuasion/awareness campaigns and other types of digital advertising (e.g. Google ads) will also be part of the job. Previous ad experience in the context of politics or advocacy is a major plus, as is a demonstrated commitment to progressive politics.

Job Responsibilities

    • Manage large clients as lead strategist on direct donate, acquisition, and persuasion campaigns:
      • Take charge of strategic planning for client campaigns.
      • Manage client relationships and collaborate with assigned ads staff members.
      • Oversee campaigns focused on direct donation, acquisition, and persuasion.
    • Plan and run digital ad campaigns from start to finish:
      • Develop media plans with measurable objectives.
      • Allocate budgets for campaigns.
      • Create compelling hooks for the ad program.
      • Write engaging ad content.
      • Lead designers on creative aspects.
      • Optimize landing pages for conversions.
      • Implement and test ad campaigns on multiple platforms.
      • Optimize campaigns to align with client goals.
    • Embed yourself in the work of your clients:
      • Join their Slack teams, calls, list servers, etc.
      • Gain a deep understanding of their work in a timely manner.
      • Proactively guide client strategy that relates to your work.
    • Manage time and projects efficiently:
      • Continuously assess priorities and to-do lists.
      • Delegate tasks when appropriate.
      • Shift gears as needed to keep projects on track.
      • Capitalize on rapid response opportunities.
      • Respond promptly to client requests and inquiries.
    • Ensure best practices and effective political ad strategies are followed:
      • Collaborate with the email fundraising team to integrate ads effectively.
      • Align ad strategy with the client's mission and campaign objectives.
      • Provide strategic ideas and lead discussions on ad practices and tactics.
      • Stay updated on persuasion, voter registration, and Get Out the Vote studies.
    • Conduct in-depth analysis of ad campaigns:
      • Use analysis to inform future strategy, messaging, and targeting.
      • Report campaign metrics to clients accurately and effectively.
    • Lead ads team and provide trainings on best practices and platforms:
      • Train the ads team and full staff on core best practices and platforms.
    • Fulfill other responsibilities as requested.
Requirements
  • 2+ years (more is preferred) working on advertising campaigns with major platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Google, etc.)
  • 2+ years experience working with Facebook Business Manager, Google Search and any DSPs (The Trade Desk, Verizon, DV360, etc)
  • Experience in excel or Google Sheets, report template design and/or other data visualization tools
  • Great all-around communication skills, including strong copywriting skills and the ability to effectively communicate best practices, strategies, plans and goals to clients and staff
  • Attention to detail and organization while managing tight deadlines and multiple projects
  • Comfortable managing multiple client relationships from start to finish
  • Comfortable with different email CRMs to run acquisition campaigns (Action Kit, BSD, Action Network, etc.)
  • Digital ad experience for political candidates, advocacy orgs or organizations that do elections work.

Strongly Preferred but Not Required

  • Agency experience
  • Knowledge of basic HTML and CSS for landing page templating
  • Experience pitching clients on an ads budget
  • Experience mentoring entry-level staff or interns
  • Demonstrated commitment to progressive politics

This is a full-time, permanent role, and it can be based in DC or remotely within the US.
