We develop, own and manage multi-family supportive housing and licensed residential care homes, and implement a broad array of scattered-site, one-on-one supportive housing, and clinical case management programs through partnerships with developmental services, homeless services, veterans' services, and health care sectors.

Department Summary

Brilliant Corners seeks a highly qualified and motivated individual to be part of the accounting services team of a rapidly growing housing nonprofit managing a diverse array of government-funded supportive housing properties and service programs. This position requires professional level accounting work in the areas of accounting, auditing of financial transactions and financial contract administration; examines, analyzes, maintains, reconciles, and verifies complex financial records; prepares mandated state, federal and county financial reports. Primary responsibilities require the ongoing monitoring of corporate fund statements for erroneous issues and resolution of accounting problems/errors, preparation of timely invoices for disbursement of grant/contract funds; support budget production for corporate and grants & contracts; and functioning as liaison internally as well as externally for all corporate cost centers.

Position Summary

The Senior Accountant will report directly to the Accounting Manager and will work closely with a team of accountants. The candidate is required to maintain a collaborative working relationship with Brilliant Corners Managers and other related personnel. Successful performance of the work requires considerable knowledge of accounting principles as well as GAAP and the ability to exercise sound independent judgment within established guidelines.

Position Responsibilities

  • Responsible for cost accounting including recording payroll transactions, and vetting Labor Allocations, Shared Cost Allocation templates.
  • Supervise and train Staff Accountants and Budget Analysts as needed.
  • Provide support and lead ad hoc projects as it relates to cost accounting as needed.
  • Maintain Amazon business accounts, liaise with internal and external stakeholders and needed to operate account with internal control.
  • Provide support for fiscal year org-wide budget season, public grants budget process as well as budget amendments.
  • Participates in the ongoing development and improvement of financial systems.
  • Responsible for corporate monthly close of all corporate cost centers, ensuring that internal and external monthly reporting is timely and accurate
  • Responsible for Brilliant Corners' corporate audit schedules (corporate balance sheet accounts, federal awards, restricted gifts, and grants receivable).
  • Responsible for financial administration of program-based monthly, quarterly and annual billing and reporting
  • Responsible for financial administration of concurrent grants both public and private with various payment methods, compliance and reporting requirements and deadlines
  • Extract accounting data to facilitate the timely billing and collection of grant receivables, verifying compliance and accuracy.
  • Assist in the financial closeout process of completed projects and ensures that all pending financial issues are resolved and necessary information is provided
  • Assist in the pledge accounting process and reconciliation to development records. Prepare reporting on restricted & unrestricted funds for departments, and for management to track the availably and utilization of funds.
  • Record inter-entity transactions; and analyze and track true ups of other entities due to Brilliant Corners.
  • Process deposits as needed. Provide answers to deposit inquiries.
  • Maintain AR Aging write off schedule as needed.
  • Provide cash projections and other AR Aging and various reporting as needed.
  • Cross train with other senior accountants to support as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by Finance team leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or three years full cycle non-profit fund accounting experience
  • Thorough understanding of GAAP requirements.
  • Analytical and detail oriented yet able to look at the whole picture to meet deadlines
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and manage multiple priorities and function independently and as a team member.
  • High degree of discretion and excellent judgment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and business communication skills, both written and verbal and strict adherence to confidentiality.
  • Understanding of concepts, principles and practices of funding agency relations and compliance requirements as well as donor expectations regarding gift stewardship.
  • Excellent computer skills (MS Word, Excel, databases, etc.).
  • Ability and willingness to contribute to the high functioning of the Finance Team
  • Sensitivity to homeless people and the issues of homelessness and recovery, and ability to work with people from diverse educational and personal backgrounds.

Salary range for this position is $75,000 - $80,000 annually. This position is being offered at $75,000 - $80,000 annually.
