Position Overview

The Quality Systems Engineer will be a key player in ensuring Hadrian’s quality management processes meet both industry standards and specific customer requirements. This role involves close collaboration with customers to interpret and implement quality requirements within Hadrian’s production framework, with a focus on minimizing disruptions and proactively addressing quality concerns. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, a customer-oriented approach, and experience in managing audits and compliance initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Customer Requirements Management

    2. Perform detailed reviews and gap analyses of customer specifications to identify quality requirements that differ from Hadrian’s standard practices.

    3. Develop customer-specific quality documentation processes, including inspection sampling plans, deviation requests, and process controls, to ensure seamless integration into production workflows.

  • Customer Audit and Evaluation Management
  • 1. Coordinate and manage customer audits, ensuring that all quality processes meet customer expectations and minimize disruptions to production.

    2. Prepare production teams for customer audits by providing training, identifying potential compliance issues, and managing corrective action plans.

    3. Serve as the subject matter expert during audits, addressing customer inquiries and demonstrating Hadrian’s commitment to quality compliance and improvement.

  • Quality System Design and Implementation
  • 1. Design and implement procedures, work instructions, and control plans that satisfy both industry standards and customer-specific requirements.

    2. Conduct regular internal audits to evaluate the effectiveness of quality processes and ensure they are audit-ready at all times.

    3. Collaborate with production and quality engineering teams to embed quality requirements into daily workflows, fostering a proactive approach to compliance.

  • Compliance and Certification
  • 1. Serve as the subject matter expert for AS9100 compliance within the production environment.

    2. Partner with production teams to prepare for and manage external audits, addressing any non-conformities and implementing corrective actions.

    3. Maintain up-to-date documentation and lead initiatives to adapt procedures to evolving standards and customer expectations.

  • Documentation & Training
  • 1. Maintain a library of customer requirements and quality specifications, ensuring accurate alignment with Hadrian’s quality standards.

    2. Develop and deliver training sessions for production staff on customer-specific quality standards, SOPs, and best practices.

    3. Ensure all quality documentation is current, accessible, and readily available for customer and internal audits.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • 1. Work closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Engineering, and Software Engineering teams to integrate quality requirements into production workflows.

    2. Provide guidance on quality standards during the implementation of new production processes or customer-specific requirements.

    3. Collaborate with project teams on new product introductions, ensuring quality considerations are embedded from development through to production.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related STEM field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a quality engineering or quality systems role, preferably in aerospace or defense manufacturing.
  • In-depth knowledge of AS9100 standards and experience managing customer audits and quality requirements is preferred.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with customers, translate their requirements into actionable processes, and manage quality documentation is preferred.

Success Factors

  • Customer-Centric: Balances customer quality expectations with production realities to achieve practical, compliant outcomes.

  • Effective Communicator: Capable of articulating quality standards and requirements to both customers and internal teams.
  • Example: Leads a training session for production staff on a customer’s unique quality standards to ensure compliance across all shifts.

  • Pragmatic Problem Solver: Questions requirements to understand intent and seeks creative, efficient ways to achieve compliance.
  • Example: Evaluates a customer’s requirement for strict inspection criteria, proposing an alternative approach that maintains quality while reducing inspection time and costs.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
