PRODUCT ENGINEER - EL SEGUNDO, CA  


As a Product Engineer in our Advanced Technology Group (ATG) —the R&D arm leading the charge in aviation innovation— you will be responsible for overseeing the development, enhancement, and lifecycle of Skyryse products and future pipeline of products (ranging from HMI, systems, navigation tools, software, etc.). The Product Engineer blends industry-specific knowledge with product management best practices, such as user research, market analysis, cross-functional collaboration, and continuous improvement.  This role must balance innovation with stringent safety, regulatory and operational requirements.  The Product Engineer will play a critical role in shaping products that are simple, safe and reliable. Background in cockpit displays strongly preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Product Vision & Strategy. Translate Skyryse’s product vision into a clear, concise roadmap of the product’s purpose and long term goals
  • Define product roadmaps that reflect market trends, industry regulations (ie. FAA), customer feedback, and business objectives. Work closely with stakeholders to prioritize features and initiatives, ensuring alignment with company priorities.
  • Define product constraints based on FAA regulations.
  • Own the strategic plan detailing the product’s features and improvements over time, including short and long term priorities
  • Track specific targets for product releases, major updates, or versions
  • Product Requirements Document (PRD). Detail the requirements for the product—whether it’s a software system (e.g., flight planning tool), hardware (e.g., cockpit displays), or an integrated service (e.g., passenger experience enhancements). 
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, certification, design, marketing, sales, and customer success, to ensure seamless execution and delivery of products.
  • Define key metrics and performance indicators to track product performance and success through development. Monitor and analyze product usage data, gather feedback, and iterate on product features to drive continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to problem resolution between product/ pilot/engineering perspectives

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Aerospace or a related field
  • At least 3 years of experience in product management or engineering, preferably in the aerospace, aviation, or technology industries.
  • Familiarity with aviation systems, navigation tools, or related technologies.
  • Understanding of regulatory standards, particularly FAA regulations or similar.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with engineering, design, certification, marketing, and customer success teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to articulate product vision and strategies clearly.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous or current pilot experience
  • Hands-on experience with aviation hardware and software systems, such as flight planning tools or cockpit displays.
  • Familiarity with FAA regulations for digital cockpit displays.
  • Familiarity with emerging aviation technologies like autonomous systems or advanced air mobility.
  • Demonstrated experience in market research, competitive analysis, and identifying product opportunities.
  • Proficiency in creating and managing Product Requirements Documents (PRDs).
