IMG Action Sports
Based in Los Angeles (CA), IMG Action Sports, a subsidiary of Endeavor, specializes in action and lifestyle sports. The prime strategic directive for IMG Action Sports is to provide and manage comprehensive event services through the creation of events, management of events, and client account support. IMG Action Sports is actively involved in surfing, skateboarding, motorsports, team sports, endurance, beach volleyball, cultural festivals and athlete management. www.img.com

IMG Action Sports is seeking an Operations Manager (OM) to assist in the management and implementation of the Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon (May 31 & June 1) and US Open of Surfing (July 26 – Aug 3). The OM will report to the Director and should possess a solid understanding of event planning and logistics. They will not only be responsible for the development and execution of these large-scale events, but also creating points of differentiation to drive the brand image of our properties. The OM will interact with all key stakeholders and should have a proven ability to manage the needs of the client(s) and/or event sponsor(s).

The candidate should be able to demonstrate a strong proficiency with the following: exceptional communication and organizational skills, an eye for details, a passion for excellence, strong cross-team collaboration abilities, and the ability to work as a part of an extended team. This is an ever-changing environment so flexibility, resourcefulness, and strategic influencing are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Work across all business verticals that include - event production and management, legal, risk and finance teams to successfully produce events in the Action Sports portfolio.
  • Ideate, develop and implement event operations & logistics plans as needed per project. This includes:
  • Event timelines
  • Emergency/medical plans
  • Security and venue management
  • Staffing
  • Traffic control
  • Operations communication plans and processes to be shared with event team and external stakeholders (municipal groups, permitting agencies, suppliers, clients, etc.)
  • Develop and manage relationships with city and state municipalities, permitting agencies and key stakeholders to secure permits and support for the event.
  • Coordinate and/or lead meetings as well as present event operational plans and documents to key stakeholders to achieve the following:
  • Secure event permits as required
  • Secure critical city and municipal support and services
  • Communicate impact within the local community (i.e. road closures, etc.)
  • Work with IMG / Endeavor Legal to contract all necessary event subcontractors and suppliers
  • Work with Director and the external payroll department to onboard and contract operations and event staff and needed
  • Manage and update event operational spending and evaluate operations where cost savings are possible.
  • Work closely with the Sales and Marketing team(s) as well as key stakeholders to develop activations onsite as well as operational execution support to fulfill sponsor/partner deliverables.
  • Hire, train, and manage event crew, staff, and interns as necessary.
  • Design and build event venues including creation of site maps.
  • Create and compile post event recap and evaluations.
  • Manage event and warehouse equipment, maintenance, and inventory
  • Assist in building RFP’s as required
  • Implement and contribute to best practices, policies, and manuals to support the division’s operational success and execution.
  • General administrative duties (phones, filing, organization, copy, print, mailings, etc.)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and strongly preferred.
  • 2 - 3 years event management and operations experience.
  • Strong project management experience and organizational skills.
  • Extremely high attention to detail.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional departments and multi-task while remaining calm under high pressure situations.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) sills - interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution.
  • Self-motivated and driven individual with strong organizational skills and ability to create new processes and ways of working
  • Team player with a positive attitude who is able to adapt as projects evolve and timelines change
  • Willing to work long days, evenings, weekends, and holidays, when necessary.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and Adobe Creative Cloud (specifically Acrobat Pro/DC)
  • An understanding of business and project KPIs
  • An entrepreneurial spirit who can think proactively and identify new opportunities
  • Ability to anticipate problems / issues and suggest proactive resolutions to be put into place
  • Experience working with budgets and forecasting
  • Must possess the ability to multi-task and frequently adjust to changing priorities and timelines in a fast-paced working environment.
  • Proficiency in full Microsoft Office suite, especially with Excel and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using mapping software, preferably AutoCad.
  • Experience using Adobe Creative Cloud– Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign.
  • Experience in producing large scale outdoor sporting events.
  • Experience in operating heavy equipment such as gators, forklifts, or reach forks.

Hiring pay rates are based on a number of factors, including location and may vary depending on job-related qualifications, knowledge, skills and experience.  Endeavor strives to provide locally competitive rewards packages, which include base rate along with, as applicable, short- and long-term incentives, growth and developmental opportunities, and robust benefits, such as health care, retirement, vacation and other paid time off, and additional offerings.


Hiring Range Minimum:

$68,640 annually

Hiring Range Maximum:

$80,000 annually
