Marketing Lead - Lifecycle Marketing/ CRM

About Sunfish

Sunfish’s mission is to make the parenthood journey easy and affordable to help everyone build the family of their dreams. We are a venture-backed, early stage, fast-growing tech platform at the intersection of data, the evolution of IVF and surrogacy, and financial inclusion.

We exist to enable:

  • Financial inclusion (e.g. enable people to afford IVF/ surrogacy)
  • Families to manage their own timeline to parenthood (e.g. egg freezing, embryo banking)
  • LGBTQIA+ family building
  • Support alternative paths to family building

Our team includes backgrounds in successful startups, top consulting companies, fertility, fintech, and venture capital. And we understand the journey. Some of us are parents, some have gone through fertility treatments – and we have all supported hundreds of others on this journey through our work at Sunfish. The management team has had multiple successful exits and 3 IPOs at prior companies.

The Position: Marketing Lead - Lifecycle Marketing/ CRM

We are seeking a mission-driven, highly motivated Lifecycle Marketing/CRM Lead with experience in consumer health tech marketing. In this role, you will design and implement a comprehensive lifecycle marketing strategy for Sunfish customers and clinics—from early engagement and onboarding to product adoption, conversion, and ongoing engagement.

This high-impact, high-visibility, revenue-driving role is ideal for a data-driven marketer with a passion for engaging customers throughout their lifecycle. You will leverage qualitative and quantitative data, segmentation, personalization, and analytics tools to deliver targeted campaigns and optimize user journeys, ensuring the right audience receives the right message at the right time.

Responsibilities

  • Champion the end-to-end customer and clinic experience, from registration to conversion and retention, by working alongside product, operations, and customer support teams.
  • Own and optimize the CRM and marketing automation stack to ensure seamless communication across all touchpoints, integrating with existing product and operational systems.
  • Develop and implement an omni-channel lifecycle communication plan for Sunfish’s prospective patients, guiding them from post-registration and onboarding to activation and conversion.
  • Develop programs to nurture, engage and re-activate patient and partner clinics, ensuring high activation and referral rates.
  • Manage key lifecycle marketing functions, including messaging/content development (email, SMS, chat, etc.), audience segmentation, messaging triggers, automation rules, data quality checks, and reporting.
  • Design and execute marketing offers and campaigns, including A/B tests, to refine and optimize messaging, analyze the end-to-end user journey, report results, and use insights to improve campaigns.
  • Uncover key insights to inform strategy from qualitative and quantitative data, including customer chats, product metrics, and primary/secondary research, to improve clinic and customer conversion and retention.
  • Create educational and trust-building content (guides, FAQs, testimonials) to improve patient confidence and clinic engagement.
  • Work cross-functionally to ensure regulatory compliance in all lifecycle marketing communications, particularly for health-related messaging.

Qualifications and Skillsets

  • 7+ years experience in lifecycle marketing or similar role at a growth stage D2C health-tech or fertility company with a passion for advancing customer experience. Some startup experience is a must.
  • Depth of experience in omni-channel marketing, CRM and messaging platforms, with a passion for building a trusted brand.
  • Independent, systems thinker and doer who can help Sunfish build a strong marketing foundation with processes that can scale.
  • Proven ability to make data-driven decisions, high-level of comfort with excel and analytical tools like Amplitude, Looker etc.
  • Must execute like a champ while also working cross functionally across the business to help meet broader business objectives.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
