About The Team:

The Misfits Market Customer Product Team is responsible for managing our end-to-end customer-facing experience that spans across: 

  • new member sign-up and onboarding through a personalized quiz 
  • a weekly grocery shopping service, powered by curated merchandising and AI-driven personalization 
  • loyalty and paid membership programs
  • retention and account management
  • iOS, Android and mobile / desktop web
  • Misfits Market and Imperfect Foods brands via 1 unified design system and frontend

About the Role:

Misfits Market is looking for an experienced and motivated Lead Product Designer to help shape the future of online and sustainable grocery shopping for 300K+ households around the country. 

As a member of our highly collaborative, small-but-mighty Customer Experience Product team, you’ll work with PM’s, engineers, partners and stakeholders to craft our north star and create delightful and user-friendly shopping experiences that incorporate best e-commerce practices while leaning into our unique “misfit” opportunities. 

You’ll work with our Customer Insights team to understand the needs of our diverse customer set, which spans across urban, suburban, and rural areas. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Lead projects end-to-end throughout the product development lifecycle—from discovery and research > wire-framing > prototyping > development hand-off > QA > and iteration.
  • Practice data-driven design and test hypotheses through A/B tests
  • Manage our internal design system (affectionately called Honeydew!) that powers our multi-brand Misfits Market / Imperfect Foods experience
  • Run interactive brainstorms or design sprints using tools like FigJam
  • Run user testing with interactive prototypes using platforms like UserTesting.com or Lyssna
  • Work cross functionally with teams like Copy, Brand Design, Merchandising, Growth Marketing, Legal and Research.
  • Interface closely with the Engineering team to collaborate on technical requirements and handoff detailed design specifications.
  • Work with Customer Insights to craft user personas so that we can better understand our members’ needs and help them save time, mental energy, and money on healthy, nourishing foods

Skills and Qualifications:

  • 4-5 years of experience working as a Product Designer or UX Designer.
  • You have a proven track record of customer-facing product design experience, ideally across high-traffic and high-frequency e-commerce or subscription products. 
  • You have experience taking projects end-to-end throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • You have a strong knowledge of design systems and UI design, and best practices across mobile and desktop websites and apps.
  • You have a strong knowledge of UX laws and best practices and use resources like Baymard Institute and Nielsen. 
  • You have a strong understanding of Figma and are familiar with Figma features and plugins.
  • You have experience conducting design research and building interactive prototypes with Figma, or similar tools. 
  • You have excellent written communication and presentation skills, are comfortable presenting in front of a larger audience, know how to receive and deliver constructive criticism, and work well in an agile team.
  • You have a portfolio of visually consistent and relevant web/mobile design work that you're proud to share with us.

  • You’re passionate food access and creating a better food system 
  • You’re a member of our service and have used our product 
  • You’ve worked on growth teams and have experience with funnel optimization / CRO
  • You have experience working with AI, personalization or data-science-driven products
