Who we are:

Nirvana is on a mission to harness the power of data to revolutionize commercial insurance and enable a safer world. We are bringing much-needed innovation into the legacy, trillion-dollar commercial insurance industry. We have developed cutting-edge predictive models that use real-time IoT data from billions of connected devices, allowing us to better understand and price risk. Our AI-driven platform fundamentally changes the way an insurance company operates with personalized risk scoring, faster underwriting, modernized claims, and proactive, data-driven insights to help customers prevent accidents.

We’ve already proven the scale—reaching well over $100 million in premiums and more than doubling year over year. Our data moat is growing exponentially with more than 20 billion miles of telematics data, leading to more predictive models and new insights into how we can better understand and reduce risk. Altogether, our loss ratio, efficiency, and customer experience are redefining what can be done in the industry.

With $170+ million raised, including an industry-leading Series C round in January 2025, we’re only accelerating our growth, with strong support from top-tier VCs including Lightspeed, General Catalyst, and Valor. Nirvana’s leadership team has previously helped scale multi-billion-dollar companies from scratch, including Samsara, Rubrik, and Flexport, and includes industry veterans from Hiscox, The Hartford, and RLI.

About the role:

We’re looking for an experienced Insurance Product Manager who is excited to leverage their skills and talents to help our Insurance Product team grow modern commercial insurance products from the ground up.

This role will have the unique opportunity to research growth areas, create recommendations on where Nirvana will write business next, and execute on those approved initiatives. You will collaborate with a close-knit team to turn data analysis into actionable recommendations that can drive real-world impact. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to the success of our organization while expanding your insurance expertise.

What you’ll do:

  • Spearhead high-impact projects that drive business growth, improve operational efficiency, and enhance customer experience

  • Collaborate with various internal and external stakeholders to gain alignment and support for new product offerings and features

  • Leverage programming skills to conduct data analysis and implement changes in our rating engine code

  • Work with Departments of Insurance to gain approval for new product offerings and new state expansion

  • Monitor effectiveness and profitability of current products and recommend changes and/or enhancements to leadership

  • Mentor, formally, and informally, by becoming a subject matter expert for analysts across product management and provide basic analytical coaching to less experienced analysts

  • Conduct ad-hoc analysis and reporting, as needed

About you:

  • 5+ years of experience at a Property & Casualty insurance carrier within the Product Management, Product Development, State Management, Underwriting, Pricing, or related functions.

  • Four (4) year completed degree in a related field or equivalent work experience

  • Experience with SQL, SAS, Python, R, or other programming languages required

  • Understanding of rate/rule/forms product filings

  • Must have good planning, organization, analytical, decision-making and communication skills

  • Knowledge of insurance concepts and financial metrics as well as how state regulations impact the business

  • Ability to work independently and also thrive in a team environment that is constantly changing

  • Commercial Auto experience preferred but not required

  • CPCU or equivalent insurance designation preferred but not required

Benefits:

  • Competitive salary & equity

  • Medical, dental & vision insurance

  • 401k with company match

  • Unlimited PTO

  • #LI-Remote

Nirvana offers a wide range of best-in-class, comprehensive benefits for this role including 100% employer paid healthcare plans, a healthy 401k match program, paid time off, parental leave, wellness reimbursement, work-from-home stipend and more.

Nirvana is committed to building a diverse and inclusive workforce. If you’re interested in this role, but do not meet 100% of the qualifications listed above, we encourage you to apply. What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
