SUMMARY
The Summer Sales Intern will have the opportunity to work in the following areas of King's Hawaiian Sales: Retail, Account Management, and Food Service. Throughout the summer, interns will be responsible to identify a current business opportunity, develop potential solutions, and sell & execute that plan to a retail account. The summer internship will culminate in a presentation to senior management to display accomplishments and learnings throughout the summer internship program.
Working under direct supervision, the Sales Intern will work in the following areas of King's Hawaiian Sales: Retail, Account Management, and Food Service. The intern will be responsible for identifying a current business opportunity, developing potential solutions, and selling and executing that plan to a retail account. The internship will culminate in a presentation to senior management to display accomplishments and learnings throughout the program. The Intern may interact with their leader daily to receive guidance and feedback. Most non-routine activities may require their leader's advance approval, but routine decisions within the general scope of the role may be made independently.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Planning & Coordination:
- Identify opportunities within a customer's business.
- Develop multi-option solutions to solve current identified opportunities.
- Prepare and execute sales plan for territory/retail outlet.
- Monitor and adjust plans after the execution has begun.
- Establish and coordinate the logistics that result in the execution on your plan (timelines, resources, etc.)
- Attend Regional and National Food Shows.
Selling & Execution:
- Execute business plans through fact-based selling techniques and superior communication skills.
- Sell King's Hawaiian products and promotions to Regional Accounts.
- Oversee the execution of product/promotion distribution that you have sold.
- Perform other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of this role.
BASIC AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE)
- At least 2 years as a student enrolled in an accredited 4-year college required; pursuing a Bachelor's degree in: Sales Management, Business Administration, Communications, Organizational Leadership, Entrepreneurship preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to lift minimum of 25 lbs.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS (JOB SKILLS, ABILITIES, KNOWLEDGE)
- Proficient organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to be a self-motivated team player that can problem solve in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, evenings and/or weekends.
- Ability to legally drive to various locations using their own transportation.
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
