ABOUT THE ROLE

Second Front Systems (2F) is seeking an ambitious and visionary Federal Solutions Architect to join our mission-driven team. We are a dynamic, fast-growing entrepreneurial company at the intersection of cutting-edge technology and national security, committed to delivering transformative solutions that empower our nation’s defenders. This is an opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of a company that is redefining the way software is delivered and secured in the defense sector.

At 2F, we thrive on innovation and purpose, combining a startup’s agility with a clear mission to support national security. You will be at the forefront of driving the sales strategy behind the deployment and scaling of our revolutionary Game Warden platform—an industry-leading tool that is accelerating the secure adoption of mission-critical SaaS solutions for the U.S. government. If you’re ready to contribute to a team that values ingenuity, collaboration, and impact, we want to hear from you.

Note: This position requires U.S. citizenship due to government contract requirements.

What You'll Do

  • Serve as a trusted technical advisor to federal customers, sales teams, and internal stakeholders throughout the sales and onboarding process.
  • Partner closely with product and engineering to align technical capabilities with customer needs and market demands.
  • Lead highly technical demos, proof of concepts (POCs), and solution design sessions—tailored to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Provide expertise in federal compliance frameworks including ATO, FedRAMP, RMF, and support customers in navigating these requirements.
  • Contribute to the development of technical collateral, white papers, and demo environments to enable sales and partner success.
  • Support complex deployment scenarios involving Kubernetes, edge computing environments, and AWS cloud infrastructure.
  • Act as a voice of the customer internally, surfacing technical challenges and requirements to inform the product roadmap.
  • Maintain a pulse on the evolving DevSecOps, compliance, and defense tech landscapes to ensure 2F stays ahead of the curve.

Skills You’ll Bring to Our Team

  • 5+ years of experience in a solutions architect, sales engineering, DevOps, or platform engineering role—preferably in a federal or defense tech environment.
  • Strong technical background in cloud-native technologies including Kubernetes, AWS, containerization, and edge deployments.
  • Demonstrated experience with federal compliance frameworks such as ATO, FedRAMP, and NIST 800-53.
  • Proven ability to lead technical demos and articulate complex concepts to both technical and executive-level stakeholders.
  • A collaborative mindset with experience partnering cross-functionally across sales, product, and engineering.
  • Strong communication skills and a customer-first attitude—comfortable working in fast-moving, ambiguous environments.
  • Active security clearance (Secret or higher)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting DoD, Intelligence Community, or federal civilian customers.
  • Hands-on experience with infrastructure as code tools such as Pulumi or Terraform.
  • Familiarity with CNCF tooling (e.g., ArgoCD, Flux, Helm, Tekton.)
  • Experience with air-gapped or classified deployments, especially at the tactical edge.
  • Previous experience working at an early-stage startup or in a dual-use tech environment.
  • Ability to write technical documentation, solution briefs, and white papers for federal audiences.
  • Understanding of modern DevSecOps pipelines and secure software delivery practices.
  • Have a strong interest in matters of national security.
  • Local to the Northern Virginia, DC, Maryland area.

You may not thrive here if...

  • Need rigid structure
  • Prefer process over progress
  • Shy away from hard problems or bold conversations
  • Just want a job—not a mission

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
