The Executive Director, Systems Engineering is the POA Lead of the Cloud Data Center and will lead the architecture, engineering, and operational management of global infrastructure across on-premises and cloud environments within Sony Pictures Entertainment’s enterprise. This role focuses on delivering highly available, scalable, and secure server, storage, and backup solutions while aligning with the organization's strategic objectives.

This position oversees the end-to-end design and delivery of infrastructure solutions, leveraging emerging technologies to optimize service delivery and operational excellence. The Executive Director will collaborate closely with business leaders, vendors, and other IT teams to ensure alignment with organizational goals and drive innovation in infrastructure services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategic plans: Ensure technical direction for core infrastructure activities and align server, storage, and backup capabilities with the organization’s growth objectives.
  • Oversee global infrastructure operations: Evaluate and enhance operations, ensure business continuity, and manage disaster recovery plans.
  • Advise on technology strategy: Provide guidance on systems integration and emerging technologies to support organizational goals.
  • Lead the team: Direct the Server/Storage/Backup Infrastructure team, implement technical standards, and enhance productivity and efficiency.
  • Manage financials: Oversee budget preparation, procurement, and vendor management for hardware and software solutions.
  • Drive service excellence: Monitor service delivery performance, ensure adherence to procedures, and foster innovation.
  • Collaborate and mentor: Work with cross-functional teams, provide staff development opportunities, and maintain strong working relationships with business and IT stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in the IT industry working with a major systems and vendors.
  • 8+ years of diverse IT experience with significant depth in Infrastructure management.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Manage partnerships as required to support key technologies and service delivery.
  • Prior supervisory experience a must.
  • Project Management experiences a plus.
  • Outstanding communication, organization, time management, interpersonal and management skills.
  • Excellent problem identification, analysis and solving skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Entertainment (Media, Film, or TV) or a related industry experience is preferred
  • Deep understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and on-premises solutions.
  • Proficiency in storage technologies (SAN, NAS), backup solutions (Veeam, CommVault), and server infrastructure (Linux, UNIX, Windows).
  • Knowledge of automation tools (Ansible, Terraform) and monitoring systems (Splunk, Nagios).
  • Familiarity with IT service management frameworks such as ITIL.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities, especially under pressure.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinker with a customer-focused mindset, aligning IT services with organizational objectives.
  • Understanding of emerging technologies and trends, such as edge computing, AI, and machine learning, as they relate to infrastructure services.

The anticipated base salary for this position is $205,000-$258,000. This role may also qualify for annual incentive and/or comprehensive benefits. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location of the position.
