Overview

As the Principal / Director of Product Management for Platform & Data, you will own the overarching platform and data product strategy—ensuring Lily AI’s infrastructure, data pipelines, ML capabilities, and AI/ML roadmap are unified, scalable, and innovative. This leader will define how we harness data to deliver new customer-facing features, integrate brand/enterprise knowledge, and power advanced generative/agentic use cases.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Develop and maintain a clear, ambitious roadmap that addresses both immediate platform needs and future innovations.
  2. Lead teams to explore the latest technologies and their applications.
  3. Collaborate with executive leadership to align platform initiatives with overall company strategy and product direction.
  4. Define how data is collected, stored, and surfaced for all Lily AI products—ensuring the platform can handle robust data models, brand knowledge ingestion, and new data types (e.g., multimodal).
  5. Establish governance, security, and privacy standards, guiding best practices to support advanced, enterprise-grade use cases.
  6. Partner with engineering and ML teams to ensure the platform’s architecture supports high-volume generative content, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), embeddings, and next-gen inference pipelines.
  7. Evaluate and implement technologies that support real-time or near-real-time data processing for a rapidly growing user base.
  8. Act as the bridge between Data, Engineering, ML, user-facing PMs, and other stakeholder teams.
  9. Align technical teams and business stakeholders around platform priorities, ensuring timely delivery and seamless user experiences.
  10. Identify and champion opportunities to incorporate novel AI/ML solutions that unlock new sources of customer value (e.g., brand knowledge retrieval, advanced personalization).
  11. Own KPIs related to platform uptime, latency, and performance.
  12. Ensure the platform can scale cost-effectively without sacrificing quality, enabling stable rollout of new features to an expanding global customer base.
  13. Champion a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and technical excellence.

      • Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead large, complex platform initiatives and manage large, multi-million dollar revenue roadmaps.
      • Technical Depth: Hands-on, advanced understanding of AI systems (embeddings, RAGs, multimodal data infrastructure, etc) and an understanding of large scale technologies, cloud infrastructure, ML/AI frameworks, and data governance best practices.
      • Strategic Thinker: Capable of translating high-level business goals into a coherent platform roadmap that supports both near-term deliverables and long-term innovation.
      • Collaboration: Skilled at building strong partnerships with engineering, data science, executive leaders, and external technology vendors/partners.
      • Results Oriented: Track record of measuring platform performance, driving adoption of advanced capabilities, and delivering measurable improvements in reliability, scalability, or cost efficiency.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
