At Relativity Space, we have two audacious goals: to build the next great commercial launch company with Terran R and to become America's leading force in additive manufacturing innovation. Both contribute to our long-term vision of creating humanity’s industrial base on Mars, paving the way for interplanetary life to expand the possibilities of the human experience. This journey begins right here on Earth – where we design, build, and fly rockets to deliver customer payloads to orbit. Terran R, our medium-to-heavy lift reusable rocket, fulfills the growing demand for launch capacity, thanks to our iterative approach that accelerates design, testing, and development while minimizing costs. While our groundbreaking research and development in 3D printing pushes the boundaries of large-scale additive manufacturing.

Your journey with us is more than just a job – it’s an opportunity to shape the future of aerospace technology, additive manufacturing, and the human experience alongside a community of passionate, creative individuals. Join us on this extraordinary journey, as we work together to transform our vision into reality.

About the Team:

The mission of the Manufacturing department is to deliver high-performing products and innovative manufacturing systems while driving continuous improvements in cost, quality, and lead time. Through cross-functional collaboration, high levels of accountability, and a focus on safety we play a crucial role in building our reusable rocket, Terran-R. We are responsible for providing design feedback on new hardware iterations, pioneering and implementing advanced manufacturing methods and systems, and ultimately delivering engine and vehicle hardware for testing prior to launch. Over the past year, the Manufacturing Team has successfully developed, iterated, and delivered processes and hardware for the first Aeon-R development engines. Now, we are entering a critical phase: producing flight components that will pave the way for Terran-R's inaugural launch to orbit.

About the Role:

  • Take full accountability for the manufacturing, quality, and delivery of all Terran R components, ensuring they meet program requirements, cost targets, and production schedules.
  • Build, lead, and scale high-performing manufacturing teams and production systems to support an aggressive ramp-up while maintaining operational efficiency and quality.
  • Develop and execute long-term strategies for manufacturing scalability, leveraging automation, process optimization, and supply chain partnerships to meet increasing production demands.
  • Drive rapid iteration on new production processes, balancing speed with manufacturing rigor to enable efficient development and deployment of new products.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, supply chain, and quality teams to ensure seamless integration of design, manufacturability, and production execution.

About You:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline.
  •  8+ years of experience in manufacturing, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role overseeing complex production operations, preferably in aerospace, automotive, or other high-precision industries.
  • Demonstrated success in building and scaling manufacturing teams, production lines, and systems to support high-rate production while maintaining flexibility for rapid iteration. Able to work well in an integrated collaborative team environment
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, automation, supply chain integration, quality systems, and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Experience driving full accountability for manufacturing—from process development and production execution to quality, cost, and delivery performance.
  • Ability to work effectively with engineering, supply chain, quality, and leadership teams to align manufacturing with business objectives.

Nice to haves but not required:

  • Extensive background in manufacturing complex aerospace components (e.g., propulsion systems, structural assemblies, critical flight hardware) with a proven track record of scaling production in fast-paced, high-growth environments while maintaining quality and reliability.
  • Hands-on experience implementing cutting-edge manufacturing technologies—such as additive manufacturing, high-precision machining, and advanced automation—to drive efficiency, scalability, and rapid iteration in production.
  • Strong knowledge of aerospace manufacturing standards (AS9100, NADCAP) with experience leading teams through rigorous quality, certification, and compliance processes while ensuring operational excellence.

At Relativity Space, we are committed to transparency and fairness in our compensation practices. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
