Over the next year, we are intentionally investing in building the right platform and experiences that will allow us to scale rapidly and support our providers to make it easy to serve their patients.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer to help accelerate our product engineering team by providing the expertise and ownership necessary to ensure we are able to continually deploy value consistently and with confidence of the underlying infrastructure supporting the needs of the platform.

In this this role, you will help lead the technical architecture and drive infrastructure solutions that enable product functionality and scalability. You will partner with the Product Engineering team to design and implement CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and automation strategies while ensuring that security and compliance are at the forefront of our development operations.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Architecture & Infrastructure Solutions:

  • Partner with our Principle Product Engineer and CTO to help lead architecture discussions to design scalable, secure, and cost-effective infrastructure that aligns with product functionality needs.

  • Make technical decisions and propose infrastructure solutions that meet evolving product requirements.

  • Understand the core problems the business and product teams are trying to solve and collaborate to outline infrastructure and architecture solutions that allow them to achieve those effectively.

  • Evaluate existing architecture and offer recommendations for improvements.

  • Partner with the data team to implement necessary infrastructure that can support existing data systems, ETL, and secure connectivity to external data sources.

  • Determine when to utilize IaaS vs PaaS based on the outcomes required and offer insights as to why one would be beneficial over the other for the given outcome.

CI/CD Pipeline Development:

  • Design, implement, and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines that streamline the development and deployment processes.

  • Continuously evaluate and identify opportunities to improve pipeline performance, reduce deployment time, and minimize errors.

  • Partner with other engineers on the product engineer team to identify other potential code improvements that will subsequently improve the platform’s overall reliability and improve how our software is improving resource utilization.

Infrastructure as Code & Automations:

  • Design, develop, manage infrastructure in a repeatable, deployable manner to automate provisioning, configuration, and management tasks.

  • Enhance infrastructure automation to improve consistency, reliability, and operational efficiency.

Containerization Strategies:

  • Partner with the product engineering team to determine strategies and approaches related to containerization.

  • As necessary, manage and optimize container orchestration strategies to support scalable, reliable application deployment.

Security & Compliance:

  • Integrate security best practices into all infrastructure solutions and CI/CD processes.

  • Ensure compliance with security requirements, particularly for highly-regulated industries like healthcare.

Collaboration & Technical Guidance:

  • Work closely with the rest of the product engineering team to integrate best practices throughout the product lifecycle.

  • Serve as the go-to expert on Azure and DevOps practices within the team, providing guidance and training when needed.

Qualifications

Experience:

  • Mid to senior level experience in a DevOps engineering role within a product-focused environment.

  • Proven expertise in Azure and associated services.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong background in designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and automating infrastructure.

  • Experience with container orchestration and infrastructure-as-code methodologies.

  • Proficient in Python, JavaScript, and TypeScript

  • Experience with Terraform, Pulumi, or Ansible

  • Experience with PostgreSQL, Azure SQL / MSSQL

  • Familiarity with SupaBase a plus.

Industry Experience:

  • Prior experience in highly-regulated industries such as healthcare is a significant plus.

Soft Skills:

  • Ability to collaborate as a part of a team to determine appropriate solutions to problems.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a remote, cross-functional team environment.

NOTICE:

  • Successful completion of a drug screen prior to employment is part of our background process, which includes medical and recreational marijuana.
  • By supplying your phone number, you agree to receive communication via phone or text.
  • By submitting your application, you are confirming that you are legally authorized to work in the United States.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
