JOB LOCATION

This is a US REMOTE position.  

COMPENSATION

$87,500 - $174,000 / year, Exempt, with a discretionary bonus of up to 10%.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Sensei Ag is currently hiring for a Data Steward.  This position is pivotal to assist the Head of Data Insights in fostering a data-driven organization by being a strategic point of contact for the organization, assuring data is organized and robust, and that we are support wise use of data to make decisions. This position will work cross-departmentally to assist the organization to utilize data by standardizing data capture and flow, curating metadata and providing information to anyone utilizing data directly or building tools which utilize data.  Further, this role will assist in building robust data policies and systems for organization of data and data access.  The role will require building relationships across the organization and thinking strategically about technologies and processes towards building a data-driven organization.  

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Build relationships with subject matter experts gain a deep understanding of organizational data.   
  • Document data definitions and metadata.   
  • Develop data governance policies in collaboration with IT to assure data security and compliance.  
  • Connect data users and data owners to support optimal data usage.  
  • Instantiate and manage internal data catalog system.   
  • Assure data compliance with regulations and internal policies.   
  • Connect regularly with the organization about data insights initiatives.  
  • Develop trainings and communication cadence for data-related knowledge.  
  • Act as a point of contact for the organization to find and utilize data. 

SKILLS and EXPERIENCE YOU WILL NEED

  • 5+ years’ experience with data analysis, strategy, governance, and/or data operations management. 
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science or other relevant field. 
  • Highly organized and adept at categorization and documentation.   
  • Natural ability and desire to work closely with others and learn new things.   
  • Experience with communicating across cross-functional teams.   
  • Experience with project management of software and or data teams.   
  • Experience with data compliance.   
  • Experience writing SQL queries.  

Bonus points if you have...

  • Some hands-on experience with data analysis and/or project management highly preferred.  
  • PMP certification or equivalent preferred.   
  • Data analysis and/or data engineering experience preferred.  
  • Experience with GDPR.  
  • Experience with financial data management.
