What is the role?

Working as a Data Migrations Engineer at MerusCase, you’ll be joining a rapidly-growing provider of cloud-based case management for legal professionals. Data Migration Engineers play a critical role in MerusCase’s success and growth. You’ll be responsible for taking client datasets in the form of database backups, tabular data, document archives, and converting them into a form that is usable by the application. Your day-to-day tasks might include reverse engineering schema and adjusting or customizing existing migrator code.

In this role, you will:

  • Understand data requirements of the client and create new migration scripts to migrate one format to another
  • Troubleshoot customer issues and help resolve them
  • Efficiently manage inbound migration queue and set the right expectation with stakeholders
  • Continue to refactor code and improve productivity in order to reduce redundancy
  • Enhance the overall migration process for successful implementation and operation
  • Assist in the automation of migration testing and completion
  • Collaborate with developers on engineering initiatives
  • Monitor, document, and report progress of the data migration plan at project level
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • 1+ year of programming/scripting experience
  • 1+ year of data transformation, data pipeline, data analytics
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field
  • Good understanding of relational database concepts and the ability to independently make sense of schemas with little documentation
  • Data modeling and analysis techniques
  • Experience in executing data migration from multiple legacy systems

Who is the ideal candidate?

  • Proficiency with languages such as Python, Pandas, C#
  • Familiar with ETL processes, data processing or data analysis
  • Familiar with the Linux command line, particularly file system operations
  • Knowledge working with Selenium is a plus.
  • Proficiency with relational database technology such as SQL.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite like Excel.
  • Experience working with Jira and Salesforce is a plus.
