Who We Are Looking For:

Thrive Causemetics is seeking an experienced Creative Strategist to lead creative ideation and oversee the production of impactful campaigns for our mission-driven, direct-to-consumer brand. The ideal candidate will blend performance objectives with insight-driven creativity, crafting engaging concepts to test across our brands and performance campaigns. Combining a deep passion for the beauty industry and proven expertise in DTC marketing, this position oversees the strategy from ideation to execution, working closely with the brand and performance teams to deliver profitable growth for our online store.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Develop creative concepts that help us stand out and resonate with Thrive Causemetics’ and Bigger Than Beauty Skincare’s target audiences.
  • Create innovative and strategic ideas for makeup and skincare campaigns, separately and together, that align with our performance goals.
  • Quarterback for the Performance creative engine - setting clear expectations and provide meaningful guidance to in-house and agency teams, to ensure that the creative execution aligns with the campaign's strategic vision and maximizes the efficiency of effort by repurposing creative across multiple channels.
  • Spearhead the ideation of content concepts customized for creators, offering clear guidance to direct their execution effectively.
  • Develop key messaging and positioning that effectively communicates the brand's value proposition and connects with our customers on a deeper level.
  • When necessary, have the background and ability to dive into asset creation with hands-on coaching of their creative partners.
  • Have a strong understanding of performance marketing KPIs to explain and analyze how creative is performing, then be able to communicate their insights across the company effectively.
  • Design testing frameworks to derive meaningful learnings from creative tests, in collaboration with the data and growth teams.
  • Leverage consumer insights and market data to inform creative decision-making and guide campaign strategies.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams including Growth, Data, Brand and the broader Creative team to ensure creative is seamlessly translated into campaign execution.
  • Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in advertising and creative strategy.

What Will Make You Stand Out:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
  • At least 3-5 years experience in performance creative strategy for an e-commerce brand. This can be in a purely creative role, or as a media manager with a clear POV on creative performance and testing.
  • You are current with creative requirements by platform, and what works well within each stage of the consumer journey or social channel.
  • You are a strong communicator and collaborator with presentation skills that succinctly convey your insights.
  • You have a bias for action and know how to prioritize your effort, and that of your team, for maximum impact.
  • You set yourself tight and achievable deadlines and hold yourself accountable to them, communicating challenges or blockers as soon as they arise. You are a life-long learner, who exhibits professional curiosity to always be testing something new.
  • You're comfortable with a start-up mentality - creating organization and processes where none may already exist.
  • For the ideal candidate, you are comfortable navigating the main media platforms to analyze creative performance directly
  • Proficiency in Photoshop and/or AI Creative tools is a plus

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
