About the role

We're looking for a Creative Localization Coordinator to serve as a key communication link between our content creators and internal subtitling and dubbing teams. Reporting to our Supervisor of Creative & English Translation, you will create and maintain translation and dubbing guidelines for each show. You will assist our translators, dubbers, and marketing teams to ensure all content meets our licensors' and our creative standards efficiently and on time.

  • You will set creative advice for titles
  • You will receive preliminary materials
  • You will create character profiles/lists
  • You will populate the Key Names and Phrases (KNP) document
  • You will work with translators and licensors to understand the creative direction of each show
  • You will review English dialogue scripts and add annotations for creative dubbing
  • You will research legal and creative considerations for songs
  • You will advise on the treatment of on-screen text
  • You will keep all creative documentation up to date and easily accessible for all teams
  • You will collaborate with licensor partners to ensure fulfillment of their creative vision
  • You will partner with translators to ensure they follow creative guidance
  • You will communicate with dubbing and marketing teams to provide necessary information promptly

About You

We get excited about candidates, like you, because...

  • You have 1+ years experience in localization, translation, or dubbing within the media or entertainment industry.
  • You have hands-on experience coordinating inter-departmental projects and working with external partners.
  • You have strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • You have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with bilingual fluency in Japanese and English required, and experience conducting business in Japanese.
  • You have a passion or curiosity for anime and/or Japanese culture.

Our Localization team plays a crucial role in ensuring that anime fans worldwide can enjoy anime in a variety of languages. Our diverse and collaborative team is spread out globally, and we manage translations, subtitling and dubbing workflows. We take pride in preserving the vision of our creators as we adapt the content for our local audiences

The Pay Range for this position is listed. Actual pay will vary based on factors including, but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Crunchyroll’s Total Rewards offerings for employees.
