As a knowledgeable and experienced ServiceNow CMDB Administrator you will manage, maintain, and enhance the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) and align it with the Common Service Data Model (CSDM) framework. The ideal candidate will ensure data accuracy, support IT processes, and enable improved decision-making through reliable configuration data.

What you’ll do 

  • CMDB and CSDM Management: 
    • Administer and maintain the ServiceNow CMDB in alignment with the CSDM framework to ensure adherence to best practices. 
    • Define and implement data structures and relationships in the CMDB to support business and IT processes, including Application Services, Business Capabilities, and Technical Services. 
    • Conduct regular reviews to validate CMDB compliance with the CSDM model and recommend enhancements. 
  • Discovery and Integration: 
    • Configure and optimize ServiceNow Discovery and Service Mapping to populate and maintain the CMDB according to CSDM standards. 
    • Manage integrations with external tools and systems to automate data population while maintaining CSDM alignment. 
  • Process Development and Alignment: 
    • Collaborate with ITSM, ITOM, and ITAM teams to ensure the CMDB supports Change, Incident, Problem, and other ITIL processes. 
    • Work with stakeholders to align the CMDB with strategic business outcomes using CSDM as a foundation. 
    • Document and enforce policies, processes, and procedures for CMDB governance and CSDM adherence. 
  • Reporting and Insights: 
    • Design and build reports and dashboards to provide visibility into CMDB health, compliance, and alignment with CSDM. 
    • Provide actionable insights for IT and business stakeholders based on CMDB data. 
    • Assist with making our ServiceNow inventory Service Aware.  
  • Support and Troubleshooting: 
    • Address and resolve CMDB-related issues, including data discrepancies, tool performance, and integration errors. 
    • Provide end-user training and support to ensure effective use of the CMDB in line with CSDM best practices. 

This might describe you 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience). 
  • 3–5 years of experience working with ServiceNow CMDB and Discovery. 
  • Hands-on experience implementing and maintaining CMDB in alignment with CSDM best practices. 
  • Strong understanding of the CSDM framework and its alignment with CMDB data models. 
  • Proficiency in ServiceNow Discovery, Service Mapping, and Configuration Management. 
  • Experience integrating third-party tools with ServiceNow. 
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their CMDB integrations. 
  • Knowledge of scripting languages (JavaScript, PowerShell, Python) is a plus. 
  • Solid understanding of ITIL practices and processes. 
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Strong communication skills to interact with technical and business stakeholders. 
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on data integrity and quality. 

Certifications: 

  • Certified Implementation Specialist - Hardware Asset Management 
  • Certified Implementation Specialist - IT Service Management 
  • ITIL Foundation certification (preferred). 
  • ServiceNow Certified System Administrator.

  • This role can be worked from any U.S. remote location. 
  • Familiarity with public company requirements, including Sarbanes Oxley and key regulations, if applicable. For SOX compliant roles, responsible for designing, executing, and documenting internal controls where they have been identified as owners to prevent errors in financial reporting, processes, and business operations. Including attestation to the completeness, accuracy, and compliance of all financial reporting data, where applicable.
