Job Description 

The Data Engineer is a customer-facing mid-level (depending on experience) technical role. This role will work directly with Enterprise Architecture and Technology Leadership to plan, build, and implement modern data infrastructure and software solutions.  


Responsibilities

  • Identify, evaluate, and execute the development and implementation of data infrastructure on Azure using platform-as-a-service technologies.  
  • Perform analysis on source systems & datasets to build end-state data models for conformed warehousing, define layers of medallion architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold), and implement recommendations for maximizing performance and customer experience in both relational and non-relational data ecosystems. 
  • Migrate enterprise data workloads, workflows, processes, and pipelines to the Azure ecosystem in Fabric, Synapse, or other systems using industry standard and proprietary processes& technologies. 
  • Define and clearly communicate requirements and expectations to stakeholders. 
  • Work as a team member across the complete life cycle of delivery including architecture, design, development, testing, and documentation. 

Experience 

  • At least 2-5 years of experience in solutions (or comparable cloud services) such as Azure SQL Server, Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Data Warehousing, or other comparable Azure data tools.  
  • At least 1-2 years of experience with Azure DevOps (or comparable build/release and CI/CD tooling), infrastructure-as-code (Azure Resource Manager, Terraform, Ansible preferred) and daily work alongside data engineering and/or software engineering teams.  
  • Understanding of high availability and disaster recovery principles, patterns and applications. 
  • Experience supporting Production applications or workloads, being able to performance test and troubleshoot related issues. 
  • Experience with Snowflake and/or Databricks is beneficial, but not required.  
  • Any experience with Microsoft Fabric is highly beneficial and preferred. 
  • Experience in any cloud AI/ML services is a plus. 
  • Experience in a consultative role or an engineering role working with more than one client environment at any given time. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing & powerpoint presentations. 

Expectations

  • New hires in this role will complete the following certifications within the first twelve weeks of hire: 
  • Exam DP-900: Microsoft Data Platform Fundamentals 
  • Exam DP-203: Data Engineering on Microsoft Azure 
  • Exam DP-600: Microsoft Fabric Engineering Associate 
  • Travel for this role is up to 15% within the continental United States
