Position Description

The Business Development Research (BDR) Group is responsible for conducting competitor research and analysis related to investment strategies, product and financial market data, business activity, and trend analysis. The group identifies and assesses relevant data and research sources and tools. To ensure comprehensive and high-quality research and analysis for management teams and client management and sales professionals, the BDR Group must maintain a strong understanding of PIMCO’s investment strategies and the institutional marketplace. Additionally, the group collaborates with various departments across PIMCO to support research, technology, and strategic initiatives that enhance the firm’s servicing and business development efforts.

Responsibilities

The key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Utilize PIMCO's proprietary and external analytical tools (e.g., eVestment, Morningstar Direct, Bloomberg) to address inquiries from clients, prospects, and consultants.

  • Report competitor intelligence to management and client management and sales teams.

  • Identify, assess, and summarize investment management industry trends to inform sales strategies and provide insights to management and sales professionals.

  • Conduct prospect research to identify new business opportunities.

  • Track sales metrics (e.g., opportunities, final meetings, won/lost business) and synthesize data into reportable trends.

  • Provide periodic reports (e.g., monthly, quarterly) to internal and external stakeholders, including competitor analysis, market share, and consultant index reports.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in economics, finance, accounting, or business.

  • Minimum overall GPA of 3.2.

  • Open to undergraduate applicants who graduated between May 2023 and January 2025 only.

  • Prior experience in a financial, client management, or sales role.

  • Strong interest in the financial markets, investment management industry, competitive landscape, and relationships with clients, prospects, and consultants.

  • Completion of Series 7 and 63 required within the first six months of employment.

  • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills, both quantitative and qualitative; experience in data analysis is a plus.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective collaboration with all levels of personnel.

  • Effective organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple projects and deadlines.

  • Excellent attention to detail to ensure the accuracy of qualitative and quantitative content.

  • Self-starter capable of thriving in a demanding and dynamic environment.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, with strong knowledge of software and database applications, including index provider databases, query tools, and Bloomberg; knowledge of Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) is a plus.

PIMCO follows a total compensation approach when rewarding employees which includes a base salary and a discretionary bonus. Base salary is the fixed component of compensation that is determined by core job responsibilities, relevant experience, internal level, and market factors. The discretionary bonus is used to award performance and therefore is determined by company, business, team, and individual performance.


Salary Range: $ 90,000.00 - $ 100,000.00
