JOB DESCRIPTION

TMZ is looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Audience Development Manager. As the Audience Development Manager, you will be responsible for optimizing our online presence, driving traffic, and building strong relationships with our partners. The ideal candidate will serve as a liaison between Audience Development, our News Desk, and other key stakeholder groups. The Audience Development Manager will provide guidance and insights to align strategies and drive growth.

Key Responsibilities:

Audience Growth

  • Develop and refine overall audience growth strategies to maximize reach, optimize audience engagement and drive sustainable traffic growth.
  • Leverage data to better understand our audiences and provide recommendations for growth.
  • Lead audience segmentation efforts to drive effective content distribution and engagement.
  • Drive continuous innovation by actively researching and implementing the latest advancements in digital marketing, publishing and platform algorithms.
  • Identify opportunities to improve workflow efficiency, implement technology improvements and provide other innovative solutions.

Platform Management:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive partner strategy to enhance visibility and engagement with news aggregator partners, like SmartNews, AppleNews, Yahoo, and MSN.
  • Serve as the main point of contact to maintain relationships and identify further strategic opportunities with partners.
  • Proactively seek and establish connections with other platforms and partners to increase distribution of editorial content.
  • Manage existing tools, ensuring optimal value, usage and cost-effectiveness.
  • Conduct competitive landscape analysis to identify other tools and processes that could benefit the teams.

Analytics Reporting:

  • Collaborate with the Analytics team to provide insights and recommendations based on daily, weekly and monthly data.
  • Produce monthly reports on social media performance and offer strategies to optimize traffic, revenue, and engagement.
  • Share audience and content insights with the news desk and other stakeholders.
  • Track and report on audience development objectives and key results.
  • Develop ad hoc reports as needed, e.g., campaign recaps, event coverage analysis.

Email Newsletter Distribution:

  • Produce and distribute daily newsletters, evaluating the best content to include in each send.
  • Strategize and develop additional newsletter products based on audience interest and content analytics.

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years professional experience, preferably in media, publishing or entertainment.
  • Proven experience in audience development, analytics, and platform management.
  • Familiarity with tools like Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics, Meta Business Suite, YouTube Analytics, Apple News Publisher
  • Proficiency in CMS systems and tools, with some knowledge of product management.
  • Experience using email marketing creation platforms.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to derive insights from data.
  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills.
  • A genuine passion for pop culture and celebrity news.

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $80,000.00-110,000.00 annually. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
