Associate Creative Director (contract)

US Remote

We are looking for an Associate Creative Director who wants to work on a vibrant, popular student brand – Chegg. This role reports to the Creative Director at Chegg.   
                                              
What would I be responsible for?

You will be leading a team of copywriters responsible for elevating the Chegg brand and developing best-in-class marketing campaigns. This team is responsible for all creative marketing copy including the Chegg home page, marketing landing pages, emails, display ads, company swag, CTV and radio spots, video, etc. 

What we are looking for:

We seek a strong Associate Creative Director with your own vision and the ability to inspire and bring thought leadership to the team.  It comes down to these 6 elements.  If you’ve got these, we want to talk to you: 

1.      Management chops. 3+ years experience as an Associate Creative Director or Manager of a consumer-facing copy team, including a range of junior to senior and lead copywriters.  Able to promote a team dynamic that fosters creative thinking, innovation, and risk-taking. A demonstrated history of hiring quality creatives and coaching them to success. Adept at giving and receiving feedback. Experience managing remote employees is a plus.  Highly developed organizational and interpersonal communication skills that typically accompany such a history are also required. 

2.      Creative chops. 10+ years overall experience in the tech design world, including a variety of domains such as visual design, brand, copy, print, product, desktop, mobile, etc. Most experience should be in consumer-facing companies (not B2B). Understands latest creative trends. Working understanding of  design and prototyping applications (e.g.  Figma). Bachelor's or Master's degree in Copywriting, Art, HCI, or related field.  Examples of innovative work in a portfolio are required

3.      Organizational chops. Leadership, initiative, backbone, gravitas, outgoing personality, ability to advocate – call it what you will. We are looking for a leader, not a follower or a manager for a service organization.  You should be able to articulate creative reasoning and inspire or persuade a product team.  Collaboration, decision making, conflict management, presentation skills, getting organizational alignment – these are all skills we look for.

4.      Agile workplace chops. Experience with lean startup / rapid discovery / intensive user feedback models of design. A healthy blend of creativity and innovation mixed with a data-driven approach to testing assets and approaches.  The ability to look at a long list of requests and calmly prioritize and delegate effectively.

5.      Attitude. And by that we mean a cultural fit for Chegg: positive attitude, high productivity, motivated, always curious, kind, team-oriented, and easy to work with.

6.      Customer focus. Interest and/ or passion particularly in the space of education and learning and an affinity for our mission of “helping students thrive”.

Bachelor's degree in Marketing or related area OR equivalent training or work experience.
