Sunshine Sachs Morgan & Lylis is proud to represent clients across many industries including entertainment, social good, tech and lifestyle and we tell their stories through a variety of mediums.  We know that even during the toughest times, our responsibility to our clients and each other can bring meaningful and long-lasting impact for those affected the most. We’re proud of each and every campaign we execute, but you may be wondering why we don’t have more than a landing page as our website. While many of our clients are household names (you know them, we’re sure of it), our digital footprint is purposefully small. We fly under the radar and we like it that way.

If you are fired up and ready to do good, join us!

We are looking for a strategic, scrappy, hardworking Account Director to join our bi-coastal entertainment and events media relations team, located in our Los Angeles office. The ideal candidate has experience working in entertainment – either on events (awards shows, premieres, festivals, industry events), on content (film, TV/streaming series, podcasts, etc.), and/or with content creators or talent. This candidate must have entertainment media relationships -- from People Magazine to The Hollywood Reporter. They know how to develop a compelling story, they have relationships and experience necessary to land impactful media placements, and they understand the broader industry and media landscape.

The ideal candidate understands how to develop strategic campaigns for entertainment projects, cultivate out-of-the-box ideas, and drive engagement online and offline. They are passionate about bringing entertainment moments to life and they understand how to work with talent, partners, vendors, and other teams without skipping a beat.

The candidate will work on a mix of entertainment clients, so it’s important that they be curious, open-minded and flexible. They see this as a challenge and opportunity to grow their skills.

This candidate should have experience managing people. Our Account Directors lead accounts with little-to-no oversight – this includes counseling clients, providing fresh ideas unprompted, motivating teams, ensuring goals are being met and they still pitch!

Our agency is integrated, and our Account Directors frequently work on accounts that involve aspects of brand integration, talent and influencer integration, digital strategy, etc. While we don’t expect you to be fluent in all of these areas, we anticipate that this will excite you!

You Should Apply If:

  • You have at least 8 years of experience working in an agency setting or relevant industry
  • You’ve managed a team with direct oversight for at least 2 years (of those 7 mentioned above)
  • You have experience overseeing events and working in entertainment
  • You have established relationships with entertainment and consumer media
  • You are comfortable leading an account with team members in other offices/geographies
  • You are a skilled and highly-organized project manager
  • You see and set big picture strategy at a higher level
  • You live by the “we, not me” mentality
  • You maintain a strong network of media contacts and has a track record of placing strategic high level stories
  • You’re willing to work select evenings/weekends and travel when necessary
  • You enjoy overdelivering rather than meeting expectations and take genuine pride in being part of something good.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Leading account teams and managing projects from start to finish.
  • Responding to client requests and ensure requests are taken care of in an efficient manner.
  • Developing and executing comprehensive integrated media and communications strategies for entertainment projects (events, content, content creators).
  • Developing an impactful and trusting relationship with clients
  • Creating new business proposals as needed.
  • Partnering and collaborating with senior level colleagues throughout the agency on integrated (and bi-coastal) accounts.
  • Training and mentoring junior staff on the inner workings and executions of PR, media relations, and overall client management.

Benefits x Perks

We go well beyond the benefits that you’re looking for like medical, dental, and vision plans, 401(k) with matching, annual merit-based bonuses, PTO, fertility, FSA for medical, childcare, and commuter expenses. Sunshine Sachs Morgan & Lylis offers those benefits and many perks including, a flexible work schedule, Work from Anywhere program, Summer Fridays, Wellness Days, and a 4-week sabbatical or trip to celebrate select anniversaries. We love to socialize so, we have collaborative workspaces, some offices even have rooftops, celebrations, networking opportunities, and community volunteering. We frequently mark opportunities to listen, learn and act throughout the year (Juneteenth, Election Day, International Women’s Day, etc.).

SSM&L is committed to diversity, equity, inclusion, and ability. We are an equal opportunity employer, and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sexual orientation, identity and expression, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.

There’s more!

From day one, employees are carefully matched with a mentor to guide them on their path to success. Training and mentoring are a big deal here and since we are into promoting from within, we make sure to provide more than enough tools for you to learn and grow. We are proud to offer training throughout the year on topics for professional growth as well as personal growth. We have also developed a series of teaching workshops that are structured for each level of the company. Sunshiners also take love to take advantage of the monthly Meet the Media series where media contacts provide valuable insider info for pitching them and their colleagues.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
