Defense tech company Epirus has secured $250 million in Series D funding, bringing its total venture capital to over $550 million. 8VC and Washington Harbour Partners led the round. Epirus develops high-energy, high-power microwave, or HPM, technology for applications in warfare.
The investment will primarily help scale the production of the company’s Leonidas HPM technology. Leonidas is a counter-electronics system designed to protect critical assets by neutralizing threats like drone swarms with electronic pulses. The technology also has use cases across military installations and commercial sites like airports and power plants.
The funding will support Epirus’s growth objectives, including hiring talent, enhancing its supply chain resilience and upgrading its internal systems and processes. The company also plans to expand its presence in international and commercial markets and grow its manufacturing footprint in the U.S.
