Aioi USA specializes in Research and Development of new technologies and algorithms for both the automotive and insurance industries. One key focus of development is, MOTER, Mobility on The Edge in Real-time, a next generation connected car data analytics platform, which bridges the gap between the automotive and insurance ecosystems. 

 

MOTER Technologies / MOTER Insurance Services is a growing InsurTech MGA focused on leveraging connected car data to power new products and services for the automotive, mobility and insurance industries. MOTER is a Program Administrator for Commercial Auto fleet business as well as an established wholesale brokerage. In addition to insurance, MOTER brings to the table an edge computing-based advanced data science platform to provide new insights from vehicle data to power the next generation of risk analytics and insurance solutions. The technology and business platform allow automakers to finally realize their connected car data monetization goals and improve their ROI in this growing space. 

 

Job Overview:

This role reports to the Chief Underwriting Officer and the VP of Corporate Development. This role will be responsible for managing MOTER’s current insurance operations which includes the development and launch of new insurance programs and products leveraging MOTER technology, and managing current program business which includes rating, policy issuance and servicing. We are looking for a highly skilled individual with an MGA and/or Program Business insurance background to join our team. This role includes managing MOTER's current Commercial Auto program, assisting in the development of new Personal Lines insurance products, and working closely with our technical and data science teams to provide insurance expertise. This role will also support our Risk Management efforts by reviewing MOTER driving behavior insights and making key recommendations to improve fleet safety. This hands-on role is ideal for a candidate with expertise in MGA Program business and familiar with the responsibilities of a Program Administrator.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Chief Underwriting Officer to underwrite and manage Commercial Auto Program Business, implementing best-practice procedures and oversee current insurance operations workflows and strategies for efficiency.
  • Support the VP of Corporate Development in developing and launching Personal Lines-related products.
  • Oversee all workflows related to insurance programs, including policy issuance, endorsements, accounting, cancellations, non-renewals, and policy changes.
  • Assist in the development of future insurance products by leveraging MOTER technology.
  • Monitor industry trends and regulatory changes to ensure our underwriting policies are up to date and compliant.
  • Regularly review program business loss ratios and provide recommendations to achieve target profitability.
  • Oversee the execution of underwriting and referral guidelines, submission procedures, and binding documents, ensuring adherence to program guidelines.
  • Assist in the launch of a data-driven Policy Administration System and oversee continuous improvements, including recommendations for workflow automation and system enhancement.
  • Manage direct reports, including mentoring, training, and conducting performance reviews.
  • Partner with technology on the implementation and execution of strategic projects related to our insurance products.
  • Collaborate internally across departments to ensure smooth project functions.
  • Support Risk Management efforts by evaluating MOTER insights and making recommendations to improve our risk management processes and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of insurance experience with a background in MGA Program Business.
  • P&C License.
  • Good understanding of insurance regulatory environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • In-depth knowledge of the P&C insurance industry, with Commercial and Personal Auto experience preferred.
  • Experience in managing or working in Program Business and responsibilities related to such.
  • Experience working with or managing relationships with insurance carriers, retail brokers, and claims administrators.
  • Bonus if experienced with telematics, usage-based insurance, or leveraging driving data to power insurance.
  • Strong leadership, collaboration, influential, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Problem-solving and critical thinking abilities, with effective communication to both business and technical stakeholders.

Office Location:

  • Torrance, CA 
  • Hybrid (2 days in the office per week) 

Degree of Travel:

  • 15%.

Scope of Management:

  • Total of direct reports: 1-3

Compensation:

  • For California based hires:  Estimated annual salary range from $125,000 to $160,000
