Vast is looking for a Tube Fabricator II, reporting to the Supervisor of Fabrication, to support the development of the systems that will be required for the design and build of artificial-gravity human-rated space stations. This will be a full-time, non-exempt position located in our Long Beach location. 

In this role, you will be responsible for operating bending machinery to shape metal tubing according to specifications. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail, excellent problem-solving skills, and a passion for producing high-quality work.

Responsibilities: 

  • Setup and operate bending machines to bend metal tubes according to engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Inspect tubes for defects and ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Adjust machine settings to ensure accurate bending angles and dimensions.
  • Perform routine maintenance on bending machinery to ensure optimal performance.
  • Collaborate with team members to achieve production goals and deadlines.
  • Follow safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Remove burrs, sharp edges, and other imperfections from fabricated tubes using deburring tools or other finishing methods. 
  • Record production data, materials used, and any issues encountered during fabrication.
  • Assembling tubes, aligning parts, and securing them in place.
  • Prepare tubes for fabrication, cutting them to specified lengths using saws, shears, or other cutting equipment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience operating tube bending machinery in a manufacturing environment.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and blueprints.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiar with mechanical hand tools, scales, calipers, and protractors.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Excellent attention to detail and quality orientation.
  • Understand quality standards and specification, including tight tolerances, surface finishes, and dimensional accuracy.
  • Experience with Romer Arms to provide reports.

Additional Requirements:

  • Willingness to work evenings and/or weekends to support critical mission milestones.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs unassisted.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.

$22$36 USD
