Company Overview:

At Relativity Space, we have two audacious goals: to build the next great commercial launch company with Terran R and to become America's leading force in additive manufacturing innovation. Both contribute to our long-term vision of creating humanity’s industrial base on Mars, paving the way for interplanetary life to expand the possibilities of the human experience. This journey begins right here on Earth – where we design, build, and fly rockets to deliver customer payloads to orbit. Terran R, our medium-to-heavy lift reusable rocket, fulfills the growing demand for launch capacity, thanks to our iterative approach that accelerates design, testing, and development while minimizing costs. While our groundbreaking research and development in 3D printing pushes the boundaries of large-scale additive manufacturing.

Your journey with us is more than just a job – it’s an opportunity to shape the future of aerospace technology, additive manufacturing, and the human experience alongside a community of passionate, creative individuals. Join us on this extraordinary journey, as we work together to transform our vision into reality.

About the Team:

The Factory Test team is responsible for all hazardous testing in our Long Beach facilities. We use our breadth of experience and collaborative engineering approach to support everything from very large structural tests to precise valve actuation. To that end, we design, build, and operate all test assets from initial concept to test execution. If you enjoy working on a multi-disciplinary team with a broad mandate and want to put hands-on hardware, then this is the team for you.

About the Role:

As a Senior Factory Test Technician, you will ensure testing requirements are met in an accurate and efficient manner. Your responsibilities will include operating test stands for static load, dynamic load, and cryogenic pressure, as well as maintaining and enhancing test plans and procedures as needed. Strong teamwork and communication skills will be essential as you collaborate with various teams throughout the factory.

Examples of your tasks may include:

  • Build and/or operate pressurized cryogenic systems.
  • Build, and/or operate data control systems.
  • Advise responsible engineers on testing best practices, capabilities, and limitations.
  • Identify and mitigate hazards in the testing environment.
  • Provide mentorship and training to other team members on your areas of expertise.
  • Maintain test plans and procedures.
  • Investigate and solve reliability issues presented in tests.
  • Follow all safety standards and policies ensuring a safe working environment, including the use of personal protective equipment.

About You:

You should have extensive experience operating with minimal oversight in high-consequence environments. You will also need the following:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Developmental test experience, static, dynamic or cryogenic.
  • Demonstrated experience building and operating complicated fluid or mechanical systems.
  • Proficiency with office software (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Ability to recognize hazardous situations and implement corrective actions.
  • Desire to teach and mentor less experienced team members.
  • Ability to precisely plan an activity, then execute according to that plan with minimal changes.
  • Experience operating hazardous equipment with multiple energy sources.

Nice to haves but not required:

  • Strain gage application techniques.
  • Familiarity with version control software (GIT, SVN).
  • Experience with test article instrumentation.
  • Proficient in control of hazardous energy (Lock Out Tag Out) procedures.
  • Self-motivated, have the ability to work for long periods without direct supervision, stay on task, and seek help when needed.
  • No previous aerospace experience is required for this position
