As a Data Engineer, you will assist in the implementation of scale-able infrastructures for analyzing large real-time data-sets. Furthermore, you will be involved in the effort to deploy interfaces between Ruby on Rails and a back-end serve that generates predictions using trained statistical models.
Within this role, you will be responsible for providing the vision and direction of data architecture, data strategy and guiding best practice in design and integrations. This role will play a key role in guiding new solutions, technologies, and platforms to meet the requirements of our data focused product.
This position reports directly to the Director of Data Engineering.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's Degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, statistics, finance or other programming related fields from a top tier school
- Must possess basic knowledge in DB and SQL programming
- Must possess basic knowledge in web and application programming (Ruby, HTML, JavaScript, CSS)
- Must be familiar with Object-Oriented Design (OOD) concept
- Ability to identify non-obvious solutions to complex problems
- Programming ability using R, Matlab, Python or other statistical software
- Preferably has a basic understanding in statistics, machine learning modeling techniques
- Preferably is familiar with the concept of test-driven development and code review
