Job description

We are looking for a Copywriter who will bring innovation and creativity to our quickly growing team. The role of the Copywriter is to develop best in class copy that addresses strategic business objectives of the Beautycounter Brand Marketing team and cross-channel campaigns. The Copywriter will be responsible for writing informative and engaging copy that helps emphasize the Beautycounter brand, and product safety and benefits, with the intention of increasing product sales and consumer awareness of the brand, furthering our mission of getting safer products into the hands of everyone. The Copywriter maintains relationships with colleagues across the company, understanding their business objectives and strategies, and is able to utilize that knowledge to create copy to address those strategies – assuring the objectives have been met with the proper tone, messaging and vision. They are experts in the field of writing and consistently seek to enhance the level of creativity executed on projects, working with the Copy Manager to ensure deliverables meet all brand standards and requirements.

Responsibilities: 

•  Under the direction of the Copy Manager, the Copywriter will create content that adheres to brand standards and will work alongside creative and marketing team leads to further establish brand tone and copy guidelines.
•  Collaborates with the Copy Manager and creative partners to develop campaign concepts, and strategic storytelling ideas that can be effectively executed across numerous channels.
•  Receive direction and present proposed copy solutions while meeting deadlines on a variety of projects simultaneously. Ensure work is reviewed/approved by leadership before presentation and subsequently vetted by cross-functional partners.
•  Demonstrates knowledge of writing compelling copy for numerous social platforms, including blogs.

Desired Skills & Experience 

•  Bachelor’s Degree or advanced degree in Journalism, Communication, or other related areas from an accredited University with an emphasis on writing.
•  3+ years of experience in retail/fashion/cosmetics writing preferably in a branded consumer environment or alternatively in an editorial role.
•  Experience collaborating with creative and marketing team leads.
•  Experience presenting work in a meeting environment to peers and senior management.
•  Creative outside-the-box thinker who can provide a solid portfolio of ideas across numerous platforms.
•  Solid understanding of how to write content for retail, e-commerce, email, social, digital marketing, print, promotions, and video.
•  Keen knowledge of the cosmetics/retail competitive landscape and ability to stay up-to-date on what’s new in the industry.
•  Detail-oriented and meticulous proofreader of your work and the work of other colleagues.
